Jalandhar:The department of languages of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, observed ‘International Mother Language Day’. Various competitions such as poetry-recitation, story-telling and elocution were organised. The theme of these competitions was to share the importance of mother tongue and of language in general. Principal Neerja Dhingra said “Our college is an ocean of talent and is home to many artistes.” She congratulated the students who took part in these competitions and awarded them with certificates of participation.
Innocent Hearts College
The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated ‘Maa Boli Divas’ with the objective of enriching and preserving the glory of the Punjabi language. The celebration began with a pledge-taking ceremony, which was followed by slogan-writing and poster-making competitions. Through their posters students depicted their love and respect for their mother tongue. Poonam and Golda bagged the first position while Sangeeta won the second position in the poster-making competition. Komal and Tamanna came first, Beauty came second and Kandla bagged the third position in the slogan-writing competition. Principal Arjinder Singh congratulated the winners and appreciated all the participants. Certificates were awarded to all the participants.
Emm Aar International School
Emm Aar International School, Adampur, held a graduation ceremony for students of UKG. The event was filled with performances, heartfelt goodbyes and words of encouragement. The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome by students of Nursery and LKG, who presented a programme of songs, poems and dances. The students of Class Nursery stole the hearts of the audience with their adorable dance performance to the popular song ‘Nani Teri Morni’. The highlight of the event was a special ‘graduation setup’ arranged for the UKG students.
Shri Ram Ashram Sr Sec School
Amritsar: Shri Ram Ashram Senior Secondary School organised an annual function for students of UKG. The event began with a lamp lighting ceremony which was followed by chanting of soulful mantras by the tiny tots. The students presented a spectrum of performances. The giddha performance was the star of the show. Principal Neetu Sharma shared a few valuable tips with the audience regarding parenting. She urged the parents to become the role models for their children. She also asked parents to beware of social media and protect their children from exposure to it at a young age, too.
DAV College
The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of DAV College, Amritsar, organised an orientation session to spread awareness regarding the role of IIC in the development of innovation culture and related activities in the college. Principal Amardeep Gupta said the objective of the session was to foster the spirit of creativity among students and to inspire them to apply for start-ups. Dr Vibha Chopra was the resource person. She said IIC’s role was to engage faculty, students and staff in various innovation and entrepreneurship related activities such as ideation, problem solving, proof of concept development, design thinking, project handling and management at pre-incubation/incubation stage. She also said the orientation programme marked the inception of the institution’s effort to support its students in their transformative journey.

SSSS College of Commerce
SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, organised an interactive session for students with the former Indian ambassador to the United States Taranjeet Singh Sandhu. He said health, innovation, semiconductor supply chains, IT, AI, energy sector, defence and education sector are among the key areas where one can think out of the box. Principal Navdeep Kaur welcomed the chief guest. Taranjeet shared his experience of living in the United States and talked about gender equality and women empowerment in India.
