Jalandhar: Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology has been selected by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, among 20 higher education institutions (HEIs) for the capacity building programme on ‘Design and Entrepreneurship’ (CBDE) under the aegis of Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP). IIITDM Kancheepuram shall be the nodal centre for the programme. The CBDE programme aims to enhance the capacity of faculty members and HEIs with a focus on design and entrepreneurship. The shortlisting process for the CBDE programme involved various criteria, including the ranking of HEIs among the top 200 institutions in the NIRF framework and their enrolment in the national innovation and start-up policy. Scope of the work involves curriculum adjustments, faculty mentoring, innovation support, vision alignment and readiness for implementing the programme. Prof Binod Kumar Kanaujia, Director, NIT, Jalandhar, expressed his pride in NIT being the only in the northern region to be among the selected HEIs.

DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology celebrated the talent of its first-year students at Carisma, a spectacular freshers’ party. The event marked the beginning of a journey filled with learning and friendships, showcasing diverse talents. Chief guest Inderbir Singh, DIG, PAP Jalandhar, and guest of honour Justice NK Sood (retd) were present. Bollywood Punjabi singers Dilbagh Singh and Oshan set the stage with a lively performance. The DIG encouraged students to pursue their passions. Sukhdev as Govinda and Palak Sharma as Kareena Kapoor were crowned Mr and Miss Fresher. First runners-up were Arpit as Ranbir Kapoor and Tushita Bhardwaj as Kajol. Second runners-up were Mandeep as Harshvardhan, Kritika as Rani Mukherjee, and Kashvi as Kaira Advani. Dvyanshu was declared Mr Handsome, while Simran was declared Miss Charming. In the best-tied turban contest, Ramindu Ishnoor Singh was crowned Mr Turbanator, with Arshnoor Singh as first runner-up and Tajbir Singh as second runner-up.

Odyssey for Kindergarten students

These excursions provided them with unique insights into different aspects of diverse world. The Moorish Mosque, constructed in 1930, captivated the children with its intricate architecture. The visit not only showcased the beauty of the mosque but also delved into its rich history and traditions. Engaging discussions with knowledgeable guides helped the students appreciate the significance of the mosque in the community. The station master showed the students signal flags, providing an authentic touch to their experience.
