Campus notes: CT college students shine in exam
Jalandhar: CT College of Education secured 16 university positions in the BEd Semester I exams conducted by Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU). Dhriti Mishra distinguished herself by attaining the 2nd position in GNDU with an SGPA of 8.5. Harshita secured the 4th position with an SGPA of 8.3, while Astha Bhardwaj and Radhika Sharma both attained the 6th position with an SGPA of 8.1. Lakshmi Mishra and Harman achieved the 7th position with an SGPA of 8.0. Chairman of CT Group Charanjit Singh Channi and Managing Director Dr. Manbir Singh along with the management authorities and Principal congratulated the students for their performance.
Lab In Entrepreneurial Motivation
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya recently hosted an enlightening workshop titled ‘Laboratory in Entrepreneurial Motivation’ led by Prof Sunil Handa, distinguished IIM-Ahmedabad alumnus and founder of Ekalvya School. The workshop was jointly organised by PG Department of Fashion Designing and PG Department of Chemistry in association with KMV IPR Cell and IIC. The workshop aimed to equip students with essential startup strategies and inspire them through real-life success stories. Prof. Handa, a renowned mentor in the entrepreneurial world, captivated the audience with his dynamic approach and profound insights into the startup ecosystem. He emphasised the importance of innovative thinking, resilience, and strategic planning in building successful ventures. Prof Handa shared the success story various startups mentored by him with the story of the founder of Sugar Cosmetics, Vineeta Singh, who transformed a passion for beauty products into a thriving business. The motivational journey of Preethi Rai, author of “Being You,” was another highlight. Prof Handa discussed how Rai’s book encourages self-discovery and personal growth.
Orientation Programme organised
In the premises of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, the Department of Student Welfare organised an orientation programme for scholarships available for the session 2024-25 of UG Sem-I and PG Sem-I of all streams under the guidance of Principal Prof Ajay Sareen. The overall incharges of the event were Dean Student Welfare Binoo Gupta and Co-Dean Dr. Ravinder Mohan Jindal. Teachers on orientation duty explained the eligibility and documentation requirement and the process of scholarships funding in detail to the students during orientation programme. Dean Student Welfare Binoo Gupta told about 473 students of various streams were benefitted by this orientation. They were made aware of Anti-Ragging Committee of the college, and also shown the anti-ragging awareness films slides.
Ribhav bags best athlete award
Ribhav Batra, a student of Semester V of Bachelor of Design, was awarded with the Best Athlete award in U-20 Physical Fitness Championship organised by AGI Infra, Jalandhar. This championship was organised at Gold Gym, Jalandhar. Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra congratulated him on his achievement and encouraged him to continue working hard and maintain this top position. She appreciated the efforts of Sahil Mahay of the Department of Physical Education Department for guiding the students.
5-DAY FOLK DANCE WORKSHOP
A five-days folk dance workshop commenced at Police DAV Public School. On the occasion, the renowned Rajasthani folk dance artist Dr Roop Singh Shekhawat was accorded a floral welcome by Principal Dr Rashmi Vij. The workshop was inaugurated by the lighting of the lamp. Sweety Sidhana, Lakshmi Kumari and Reena were present along with the chief guest. Guruji Dr Roop Singh Shekhawat gave valuable tips regarding Rajasthani folk dance-Ghoomar, Chimri, Bhavai to the students participating in the workshop. The workshop will run from August 5 to 9.
Workshop on Business Innovation
Ivy World School provided students from classes IX-XII with an opportunity to participate in a three-day certified workshop on Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The same was conducted by Prof Johnathan Weaver from the University of Detroit Mercy, Michigan, US. Apart from students, he also educated parents as well as teachers to explore and motivate innovation. Prof Weaver, a renowned expert in innovation and engineering design, guided students through an engaging introductory workshop, focusing on the fundamentals of modern finance and markets. Students explored various critical topics, including banking, finance, insurance, enterprise risk management and fraud detection.
Zonal Kho-Kho competitions
Hoshiarpur: Rayat Bahra International school’s girls have secured first place in both the Under-14 and Under-19 zonal Kho-Kho competitions. Dr Hardeep Singh, Principal, Rayat Bahra International School, said our girls have once again proven their ability to face and overcome any challenge. Sports Officer Harjit Singh said the competition was held on the school premises and was inaugurated by Principal Rajan Arora and Lecturer Prabhjot Singh.
