Jalandhar: CT Group of Institutions organised a vibrant and joyous Teej celebration at the Shahpur campus, bringing together students, staff, faculty members and authorities for a day dedicated to glorifying women and celebrating their pivotal role in society and family. The participants engaged in modelling, dance and singing, creating an atmosphere of laughter and festivity. The celebrations included food and fun stalls, adding to the festive spirit and providing delightful treat to the attendees. The event was attended by AAP leader Rajwinder Kaur Thiara, co-chairperson of CT Group Parminder Kaur, joint managing director Tanika Channi and all the female staff and students.
DAV alumnus inspires freshers
An alumnus of DAV University, Hannu Gandhi, shared his inspiring journey with freshers on the concluding day of Deeksharanbh – the induction programme. Interacting with students, he discussed how he achieved all-India fifth rank in the examination for Assistant Labour Commissioner conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). He was a BSc (Honours) student in chemistry in 2014. Hannu, who is a President’s award recipient and UGC JRF fellow, also engaged with students in a Q&A session, offering valuable insights. IAS mentor Ahsanul Haq equipped the students with strategies to crack the coveted civil services examination. Taranjot Singh, a PhD scholar invited by the UK Atomic Energy Authority, emphasised the importance of social service and cultural activities. Deputy Director (Sports) Dr Yeshbeer Singh underscored the significance of physical and mental well-being, while Amanvir Kaur and Harsimran Kaur shared their experiences, enriching the induction programme.
Roller Skating Championship
Students of Innocent Hearts, Green Model Town and Loharan, have won in the 24th Roller Skating Championship. The championship was held at Police DAV School last week. Hargun Hundal, Sargun Mehmi, Harnaaz Kaur and Karman Kaur of Green Model Town won gold medal in the championship while Moksh and Tilak Salgotra of Loharan won a silver medal. Hargun Hundal won two gold medals in 500m and 1,000m. Hargun has already received the National Medal Honour Award by the District Roller Skating Association, Jalandhar, in Chennai in December 2023. Karman Kaur won gold medal in Race-1 One Lap Inline, Race-2 Two Lap Inline in District Roller Skating Championship 2024 and qualified for the state-level competition to be held on November 24. Karman will represent Jalandhar district.
University results
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya announced that its students have achieved outstanding results and secured top positions across multiple disciplines. Damanpreet has got first position in BSc Medical Semester II with 9 CGPA, Bani bagged first position in BSc Computer Science Semester II with 7.85 CGPA, Jaspreet Kaur bagged top position in BSc Non-Medical Semester II with 8.48 CGPA and Samriti bagged the top position in BSc Non-Medical Semester IV with 81 per cent marks. All these meritorious students were felicitated by Principal Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi for their achievement.
Havan Yajna performed
A havan yajna was performed for PG students at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya to invoke the blessings of the Almighty. The students, faculty members and staff offered prayers under the guidance of Principal Dr Ajay Sareen. The yajna was coordinated by Dr Mamta and Dr Meenu Talwar. TNS
