Campus notes: District Wushu competition

Jalandhar: Students of Shiv Jyoti Public School participated in the district wushu competition 2024-25 held at Senior Model Government Senior Secondary School, Ladowali Road. Two Students Parth Sharma and Neerav Rana participated in the competition. Neerav Rana won silver medal in U-17 (45 kg) weight category. Principal Parveen Saili applauded the students for their hard work and congratulated their parents.

53rd KVS National Sports Meet

Jalandhar: The second phase of 53rd KVS National Sports Meet began at Lovely Professional University. Davinder Singh, Olympics (hockey) gold medallist of 1980, was the chief guest. KVS Assistant Commissioner Monoj Kumar Pandey and Senior Dean of Student Welfare LPU Sorabh Lakhanpal graced the occasion as the guests of honour. A total of 1,100 participants for U-14, U-17, U-19 (boys) boxing and handball competitions have come from 25 regions of the KVS for this event. The participants took an oath to showcase the true spirit of sportsmanship. KVS Deputy Commissioner Preeti Saxena said sports have a crucial role to play in keeping an individual physically fit and mentally agile.

Research paper on consumer rights

Jalandhar: Two students from Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions — Khushbu Verma and Akansha — have made a significant contribution to academic research by publishing their paper in the prestigious Korea Review of International Studies. The research, conducted under the guidance of Dr Gagandeep Kaur Dhanju, is titled "Measuring the level of awareness on consumer rights: A study of college students of Jalandhar city." The paper explores the understanding and awareness of consumer rights among college students in Jalandhar, offering valuable insights into how informed the younger generation is about their rights in the marketplace. Dr Dhanju praised the dedication of the students and emphasised on the importance of raising awareness on such critical issues.

Capacity-building programme

Jalandhar: A two-day capacity-building programme was organised at Police DAV Public School under the aegis of DAV CAE Regional Training Centre, Jalandhar Zone. It was inaugurated by ARO Principal Dr Rashmi Vij by lighting the lamp. Vinod Kumar, Principal of Dayanand Model School, Model Town; Dr SK Gautam, Principal of Dayanand Model Senior Secondary School, Dayanand Nagar; Baljinder Singh, Principal of DAV School, Nakodar; and Anita Nanda, Principal of Lala Jagat Narayan DAV Model School were also present. More than 300 teachers from DAV Schools of Jalandhar, Bhikhiwind, Batala, Amritsar and Pathankot were present during the training programme. Principal Dr Rashmi Vij conducted a session on art as curriculum, integrated curriculum, enhanced curriculum and lesson planning.

Teachers’ training programme

Jalandhar: A CBSE capacity-building programme on ‘Learning outcomes and pedagogies’ was organised in Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Sr Sec School. The resource persons were Madhu Sharma, former Principal CT World School, and Gauri Chhabra, former Principal of Drishti Dr RC Jain Innovative Public School, Ludhiana. They shared their valuable experience on how a teacher can make every lesson more effective and fruitful. They guided teachers about the techniques to make use of every opportunity to strengthen the teacher-student relationship and how a teacher can enhance the productivity of every student. Principal Priyanka Sharma thanked the resource persons and said such initiatives contribute to the ongoing evolution of education.

Sahodaya vlog-making competition

Jalandhar: Cambridge International School, Phagwara, participated in Sahodaya interschool vlog-making competition on ‘No bribe no lies, just a fairer rise' held at Kamla Nehru Public School, Phagwara, wherein Krish Kalra and Soham Singla of Class XII participated and bagged the first position among 33 schools. In the cinematic vlog, the students portrayed how bribe kills one’s honesty and dedication which in turn becomes an obstacle in the development of the country. Principal Jorawar Singh congratulated the winners by adorning them with certificates and a trophy. He praised the students for using social media for the right cause.

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrated

Jalandhar: Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated with great enthusiasm on the campus. The day started with Ganesh Vandana during a special assembly. A play based on the history of this very day was the central attraction of the event. A student from the pre-primary wing in the attire of Lord Ganesha mesmerised one and all. Director Sushma Handa appreciated the efforts done by the faculty and students. Principal Radha Gakhar threw light on the importance of such pious days in the Indian culture.

Snakes and Ladder activity

Jalandhar: Snakes and ladder (value-based) activity was organised for the students of Class I at CJS Public School. The students rolled the dice on the board and moved their pawn towards ladder or snake. Ladder symbolised good habits, while snake symbolised bad habits. The students were very excited during the activity by using ladder of good habits like 'Always speak truth'. The main objective of playing this game was to teach students that if they will inculcate good habits they will surely succeed in their life. Chairperson Neena Mittal and Principal Ravi Suta appreciated the moral development activity of students. TNS
