Jalandhar: Farewell ceremony for the students of Class XII was organised in The Gurukul School under the leadership of principal Radha Gakhar. Sushma Handa, director of the school, graced the occasion with her presence. On the occasion, students of Class XI enthralled everyone with a beautiful cultural programme. The students along with their friends recalled their school days and had lot of fun. Meetangni was selected as Ms Gurukul and Himanshu was selected as Master Gurukul. Along with them Paramvir got the title of Miss Personality, Harsukh got the title of Master Personality, Vandana was awarded with the title of Miss Best Attire, Himesh was awarded with the title of Master Best Attire, Kavita got the title of Miss Elegant, Charan got the title of Master Elegant.

Basant Panchami at HMV

Basant Panchami was celebrated at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya by the student council of the college. Saraswati vandana was recited by the students of Music Vocal Department under the guidance of Prem Sagar, head of the Music Vocal Department. Sagar said Basant is a symbol of happiness and prosperity. Prem Sagar, Jyoti Gogia, Gagandeep, Praduman recited bhajans and songs on the occasion. The teachers and students were wearing yellow clothes and offered flowers to Maa Saraswati, the goddess of wisdom and knowledge.

Yellow vibrancy at PCM SD College

The Department of Home Science and Youth Club of PCM SD College for Women celebrated Basant Panchami. Since the day is associated with Saraswati pujan and rituals about embarking young children towards education and formal learning, principal Pooja Prashar and members of staff wished good luck to the students for their ongoing exams. The college premises was bedecked with vibrant yellow coloured flowers, kites and decorations. Holy hymns were chanted in praise of goddess Saraswati. Flowers were offered to the ‘Goddess of Knowledge’.Prasad was distributed among all present on the occasion. Students flew kites to enliven the age-old yearly tradition of the festival as a mark of the advent of spring season. The principal applauded the efforts put in by the Department of Home Science and the Youth Club.

Valentine’s Day celebrated

Ivy World Play School celebrated Valentine’s Day for the tiny tots under the guidance of principal Sanjeev Chauhan and headmistress Shefali Sharma. It aimed to instil in children the broader meaning of love beyond romantic notions, fostering a deeper appreciation for the world around them and the relationships they hold dear. Through engaging activities and thoughtful discussions, students explored the wonders of nature, delved into the enchanting realms of books, cherished the bonds of friendship, and nurtured self-love and acceptance. From crafting nature-inspired art to sharing stories of friendship and kindness, each activity was carefully curated to ignite curiosity, empathy, and joy in our young learners. The students were overwhelmed and enjoyed the day.

World Radio Day celebrated

IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) celebrated World Radio Day with an expert lecture organised by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Sukhdeep Singh, founder of Anhad Studios served as the resource person for the event. Prof Ranbir Singh, head of the JMC Department, along with other faculty members, warmly welcomed the resource person. During an engaging discussion on the scope of digital radio, the speaker emphasised the vast opportunities available in this dynamic industry. He highlighted the integration of digital platforms, which has extended the reach of radio beyond traditional broadcasting, allowing for the incorporation of e-books and other digital content into programming. The speaker underscored the significance of voice-over artists in digital radio and the importance of mastering elements such as pitch and pace to deliver engaging content.

Best wishes party organised

Best wishes party ‘Rukhsat’ was organised in Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Sr Sec School. The programme was organised under the supervision of principal Priyanka Sharma. The juniors welcomed the senior most class students. The function was an ensemble of cultural items such as dance performances along with games were organised to add fun and enjoyment to the party. The highlight of the event was the modelling contest in which students of the outgoing class walked the ramp. In this contest, Tanvir Singh was given the title of Mr SHCSD and Dhruv Sharma was first runner-up. Jiya bagged the title of Miss SHCSD and Priyal got first runner-up title. Students were also rewarded as Diligent — Palak Aggarwal, Punctual—Damanpreet, Obedient— Tanvi Rana, Disciplined— Dilpreet Kaur, Responsible— Muskan Yadav and Attentive— Navjot Kaur. The programme concluded with best wishes speech by principal Priyanka Sharma.

Students visit Gurdwara Sahib

State Public School, Jalandhar Cantt, arranged a visit for Class 10 and 12 students to Gurudwara Sahib for paying obeisance to the supreme power and received divine blessings for performing well in the board examination. They learnt the value of langar and performed ardas, which is the best way to pay obeisance to the almighty. They were all dipped in the auspicious and joyful act of visiting the holy place. President of state public schools Dr Narotam Singh and principal Savina Bahl wished the diligent students to perform up to best of their level.

Basant panchami celebrated

MLU DAV College, Phagwara, celebrated Basant Panchami under the guidance of principal Kiranjeet Randhawa. As being a cultural aspect, students were clad in yellow to mark flowering mustard fields. Joy and sense of peace prevailed during the festival with its religious relevance as the festival is also known as Saraswati Puja. The principal while sharing her views said Basant Panchami stands as a symbol of peace, love and hope for the betterment.
