CBSE Cluster XVIII Football Tournament was held at Sant Baba Bhag Singh International School, Khiala. The event which saw participation from 110 teams of Punjab and J&K’s CBSE schools was played on six grounds of the campus. On the last day of the tournament, final matches were played by Saffron Public School, Phagwara, and Scholar Public High School, Banga, in the U-14 category, LK International School, Sultanpur Lodhi, and Sainik Public School, Kapurthala, in the U-17 category and Sant Baba Bhag Singh International School, Khiala , and D P S, Dohlron, in the U-19 category. Scholar Public School, Sainik School and Sant Baba Bhag Singh International School were declared winner in their respective categories. Daljit Singh of Scholar Public School won the Best Goalkeeper award and Sachin Rahela bagged the Golden Boot trophy.

Pharmacists Day observed

Jalandhar: CT Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, in collaboration with the United Pharmacist Alliance Society (UPAS), celebrated World Pharmacists Day. The event, aimed at highlighting the vital role of pharmacists in healthcare, was marked by a series of engaging activities that encouraged creativity, knowledge-sharing and professional development. Students participated in various events, including a quiz competition, organic rangoli-making, declamation contests, ‘create out of waste’ challenge and a thought-provoking skit. Each event underscored the significant role that pharmacy plays in improving healthcare outcomes and nurtured a sense of community among budding pharmacists. CT Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences Vice-Principal Daisy Sharma, along with Dr Abhinav Anand and Diksha Bhatt, heads of departments, commended the students for their participation.

Seminar on Innovation

Jalandhar: The Department of Cosmetology at PCM SD College for Women organised an international seminar titled 'Rise and thrive: My Story – A motivational session on successful innovators'. The keynote speaker, Ekta Khaushal, a renowned beauty advisor from Dubai, captivated the audience with her inspiring journey. Khaushal said she wanted to tell the stories of those people who dared to dream, took risks and despite facing setbacks, achieved unimaginable success. She emphasised the seminar was not only about celebrating their accomplishments, but also about learning valuable lessons from their journeys. According to her, innovation was not just about success; it was about embracing failure, rising after setbacks and continuing to strive forward. Principal Pooja Prashar appreciated the efforts of the Department of Cosmetology for organising the event.

NSS Day observed

Jalandhar: The NSS wing of Apeejay College of Fine Arts observed NSS Day. The NSS wing organised various activities on the theme 'Gender Sensitisation' throughout the week from September 18 to 23. During the week, the NSS volunteers visited various schools in Jalandhar , where they enacted a street play 'Sparsh' and also interacted with female students regarding their safety measures. The play carried a message about the safety of women. Through various scenes and characters, the play highlighted that the safety of women was paramount and in order to make our society safe and sound for the fair sex, first of all they must be encouraged to learn self-defence and those people who harass or tease others must realise the consequences of their deeds. Poster-making competitions were also organised for the students of various schools on the theme of 'Gender sensitisation'. Bipan Suman, member Pehal NGO, made the students aware of e-waste management. Dr Swaiyjeet Singh, Incharge, Anti Retroviral Centre, Civil Hospital, urged students to be aware of HIV-AIDS and drug menace.

EDUCATIONAL TRIP

Jalandhar: Emphasising the importance of nourishment for a healthier India, students of Nursery class of MGN Pre-Primary, Adarsh Nagar, had a bag-less day, while visiting a grocery store. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and witnessed how a store was divided into various sections such as packaged eatables, fresh food items, dairy products, frozen items, toiletries, stationery etc. They were fascinated by the several measuring devices and weighing scales, giving a fillip to experiential learning. They even saw shopping carts and the billing counter.

Mock Interview for Mgmt students

Jalandhar: To enhance the interview skills and employability of students of the Management Department, a mock interview was organised by the School of Management, Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus. Various panels were formed to give students a rich experience. Col JPS Cheema, Managing Director, Hire Rightt, Dr Wishey Kataria, Manager Corporate Governance, PHF Leasing Ltd and Divya Jain, Executive Business Manager, PHF Leasing Ltd, visited the campus. The process consisted of group discussions and personal interviews, to prepare the students for placements and instill a sense of confidence and competency in them. The event was coordinated by Dr Tarunjit Singh, Manishu and Harshita from the School of Management.

Orientation Programme

Jalandhar: The PG Department of Computer Science and IT of Lyallpur Khalsa College hosted an orientation programme for the newly-admitted students of the department. The event was designed to welcome and integrate new students into the college. Vice-Principal Jasreen Kaur extended a warm welcome to the students. Principal Jaspal Singh motivated them to excel in the domain of Computer Science. A special students committee, Techno-Students Association, a representative group of all the Computer Students, was also formally declared.
