Jalandhar: Apeejay College of Fine Arts started its golden jubilee year celebrations by holding a hawan ceremony in which faculty members and students of the college participated with great devotion. Sushma Paul Berlia, chairperson, was also present virtually. She addressed the gathering and put forth that founder chairman Dr Stya Paul had sowed the seeds of vision, dream and aspirations of quality education 50 years ago. Berlia also put forth that beginning golden jubilee celebrataions on the day of Makar Sankrati symbolised good vibes, hope and enthusiasm. Principal Neerja Dhingra expressed her gratitude towards Berlia and Sucharita Sharma, director, Apeejay Education.
Annual Sports Meet
Kapurthala: A two-day annual sports meet was organised at Premjot Public Senior Secondary School, Kapurthala, under the guidance and supervision of Gurbinder Singh (MD), Rajbir Kaur (secretary) and Principal Sapna Chadha. Captains of respective houses along with students presented a parade. A welcome speech was delivered to honour the dignitaries. All the students from Class nursery to XII participated with great enthusiasm. Different fun games like ball balance, catch and throw, hopscotch were organised. Senior class students enlivened the competition spirit with their performance in box ball and pyramid making activities.
Lohri celebrated
Jalandhar: Lyallpur Khalsa College, Technical Campus, celebrated Lohri with lot of exuberance. The celebration started with the speech of Director LKCTC RS Deol highlighting the importance of the festival which ushers in the cheerful spring season bidding adeu to the dull winter. All the teachers and students took part in the celebration enthusiastically. The programme kicked off with ‘Lohri Poojan’. Sukhbir Singh Chatha (Director Academic Affairs, KCL Group), RS Deol (Director- LKCTC) and SK Sood (Dy Director AA, KCL Group) along with other staff members and students were present on the occasion. Groundnuts and sweets were also distributed. Punjabi folk songs, Lohri songs, bhangra, etc were presented by students.
Bonfire at school
Lohri was celebrated in Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Sr Sec School. A bonfire was lit in the school campus. Principal Priyanka Sharma along with the staff members and students offered seasame seeds, jaggery, gachak, rewari and peanuts to the bonfire while doing parikrama around it. The principal exhorted the students to give as much as possible to the poor and needy. She wished everyone happiness and prosperity on this auspicious occasion.
