Campus Notes: Grandparents’ Day
Jalandhar: Cambridge Pearls organised Grandparents’ Day. The students’ grandparents participated in all activities with enthusiasm. The highlight of the event was ‘jodi kamal ki’, which showcased their unique talent and compatibility. The programme culminated with the ‘thank you song’ by the students. Nitin Kohli, Vice-Chairman Deepak Bhatia, Vice-President Parth Bhatia and Executive Director Dhruv Bhatia admired all grandparents. President Pooja Bhatia extended heartfelt gratitude to everyone who took part in the activities. Education Officer Manish Malhotra and Vice-Principal Dinesh Kumar appreciated their role as strong pillars of the family.
Value -based education
Jalandhar: Value-based education was imparted to students of CS Public School. The students played a game ‘pass the toy’ and learnt different values such as being humble, respectful, and polite. Through this activity, they also learnt to use magical words like sorry, thank you, please, give and take. Chairperson Neena Mittal and Principal Ravi Suta were also present. The principal appreciated the students for their future endeavours.
Hindi Divas celebrated
Jalandhar: A special assembly was conducted to celebrate Hindi Divas in The Gurukul. A poem was recited on by Nishtha of Class V and Akanksha of Class VIII highlighted the importance of Hindi in our lives. On the occasion, the school also conducted Hindi calligraphy contest. Director Sushma Handa appreciated the efforts by faculty and students. She also gave away prizes to position holders of calligraphy contest. Principal Radha Gakhar felicitated the students. She said in the era of modernisation, children must be connected with their roots.
Hindi fair
Jalandhar: Various Branches of St Soldier group of Institutions organised Hindi Divas. A Hindi writing competition was organised as part of the Hindi Fair. Many students participated in different competitions like essay-writing, poetry-writing and speeches. The branch directors and principals exhorted the students by emphasising the importance of the Hindi language and the necessity of writing and speaking in Hindi. Group Vice-Chairperson Sangeeta Chopra appreciated the participants.
Orientation programme
Jalandhar: An orientation programme was conducted for the first semester students of BSc and MSc. All students of botany, zoology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, economics and computer science participated in the event. Principal Jaspal Singh apprised the new students about the college’s academic traditions, achievements in the fields of sports, culture and music. Registrar Navdeep Kaur motivated the students to set goals and achieve them. Harjinder Kaur and Nitika Chugh conducted the orientation session through a presentation. The students learned about the provision of remedial classes, revision classes, mentorship programs, grievance redressal system and scholarship schemes. Convener of the programme Gagandeep Kaur, Head, Department of Zoology and Botany presented a vote of thanks.
Poster-making contest
Jalandhar: Munshi Premchand Sahitya Parishad of Hindi Department, DAV College, organised a poster-making competition and extension lecture on the occasion of Hindi Divas. Head of the Department Sandipana Sharma welcomed the guests and presented the outline of the programme. Principal Rajesh Kumar discussed the scientific nature of the Hindi language. He mentioned Dayanand Saraswati’s love for Hindi and his contributions. Students displayed their creativity in the poster-making competition. Sonia of Class XII stood first, Bablu of Class XI was second, Ashraf Ali Khan and Amanpreet of BA got third position and Gaveshna of MA Punjabi received the appreciation award. In the lecture organised on the topic ‘Employment opportunities in Hindi language’, the speaker Balvendra Singh, Hindi Department, DAV College Jalandhar, threw light on the employment opportunities in the field of Hindi.
Educational visit
Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya students got an opportunity to visit the Rashtrapati Bhawan, the official residence of the President of India, on a guided educational tour. The students explored the grandeur of the iconic presidential estate, including the renowned Amrit Udyan and the prestigious Rashtrapati Bhawan Museum. The visit was organised by Department of Political Science and PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Spread over vast acres, the Amrit Udyan is known for its vibrant display of seasonal flowers, rare plants, and stunning water fountains. It holds a special place as one of the most celebrated gardens in India, and the KMV students had the privilege to witness its natural beauty at its peak. The visit also included a detailed exploration of the Rashtrapati Bhawan Museum, which offers a deep dive into the history and legacy of the Indian presidency. The museum is a treasure trove of artefacts, personal belongings of former Presidents, and key historical documents.
Engineers’ Day observed
Jalandhar: A grand function with various events and activities was organised on Engineers’ Day at IK Gujral Punjab Technical University. Vice-Chancellor Susheel Mittal exhorted the engineering students to focus on innovation for the country’s progress. Registrar SK Misra sent a congratulatory message to everyone for organising the academic programme. Celebrations began with the lighting of a lamp by Dean Academics Vikas Chawla, Dean R&D Yadvinder Singh Brar, Dean P&EP Hitesh Sharma, Dean Faculty Gaurav Bhargava, Finance Officer Sukhbir Singh Walia. All the officers and students paid tribute to Sir M Visvesvaraya. Vikas Chawla made the students aware of the history of this day.
Engineers’ Day at rayat bahra
Jalandhar: Engineers Day was observed with great enthusiasm at Rayat Bahra Engineering College. The event witnesses participation from the staff and students of the college. Principal Gurjeet Singh highlighted that engineers play a crucial role at the interface between science and society. To honour the significant contributions of engineers, the birth anniversary of Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was observed as Engineers Day, acknowledging his impact on hydro-energy in India. The programme featured various competitions, showcasing the talents of students from each department. Competitions included poster-making on themes such as “best of waste” and “world after 2050.” These events aimed to foster a spirit of competition among aspiring engineers. On the occasion, Chairman Gurwinder Singh Bahra, and campus Director Chander Mohan congratulated the engineers.
