Jalandhar: Cambridge International School, Phagwara, held its annual investiture ceremony appointing the next cohort of student leaders to uphold the school’s values and guide their peers. Students had to go through an interview by Principal Jorawar Singh. Hiten Kalucha was chosen as the Head Boy, Kiratpreet Kaur as Head Girl and Aarshi Sharma as Deputy Head Girl. Tanmay Mankhand, Jasgun Kaur, Anant, Jivraj and Gurangel Kaur got the privilege to become the activity in-charge, Bhavesh Arora and Parneet Kaur Khurana were made Sports Captain and Divyansh Gaba, Jasmine, Janvi Bagga, Kanishka Parashar, Shubhreet Kaur, Mouli Gupta, Kashish Sharma and Sahana were chosen as discipline in-charges.
LPU announces ~25 lakh for Neeraj
Lovely Professional University has announced a reward of ?25 lakh for Neeraj Chopra for bringing the silver medal for India. The university has also announced ?10 lakh each to the eight LPU students who were part of the hockey team that clinched a second consecutive bronze medal at the Olympics.The eight LPU students who were part of the hockey team are Captain Harmanpreet Singh, Hardik Singh, Shamsher Singh, Mandeep Singh, Sukhjeet Singh, Manpreet Singh, Gurjant and Jarmanpreet Singh.
Freshers’ party
The newly admitted students of Physiotherapy Department of St. Soldier College (Co-ed) were welcomed with a freshers’ party titled ‘Taroof’. The event was organised under the supervision of college Director Dr Veena Dada and the staff members. The chief guest at the event was the vice-chairperson of the group, Sangeeta Chopra, who was welcomed by the college staff members by gifting her plants. The students also had an oath ceremony, after which Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, wisdom and understanding was worshipped. The students took part in many cultural performances like Gidda, Bhangra, songs etc. The students explained the special role of physiotherapists in society through a skit. The title of Miss Fresher was given to Bhavana and the title of Mr Fresher was given to Moksh.
Inter-House Mehndi Contest
An inter-house mehndi contest for Class VII and VIII was organised at CJS Public School. The students got an opportunity to display their innate creative talent through this competition. Their spontaneity and creativity was put to test when they were required to come up with attractive designs for mehndi. The winners were Harshita, Jasmeet Kaur and Guneet. Chairperson Neena Mittal and Principal Dr Ravi Suta encouraged the students to put in their best efforts to keep this cultural and traditional art form alive and wished everyone a happy Teej and distributed certificates to the winners.
Celebration of Teej
Teej festival was celebrated in the premises of Montgomery Guru Nanak College of Education by the Art Club of the college. On this day, students of the college, dressed traditionally, sang Punjabi folk songs. They also celebrated the month of Sawan by dancing and took swings as a ritual for Teej. Principal Dr Neelu Jhanji addressed the students by saying that festivals like Teej connect us with nature. The entire event was coordinated by Geetanjali Mittu. All the teachers and students witnessed the event.
New student leaders inducted
CT World School held its annual investiture ceremony, celebrating the induction of new student leaders for the upcoming academic year. Arti Jaswal, Principal of CT World School, warmly welcomed everyone. The ceremony featured the formal swearing-in of the new student council members, including Agampreet Singh Sandhu as Head Boy, Manya Sharma as Head Girl, Gurvir Singh as Sports Captain and Manya Bhalla as Literary Captain. Captains, vice-captains and prefects from all Houses — Aryabhatta, Archimedes, Einstein and Ramanujan — also took their oath. Manya Bhalla, the Literary Captain, delivered an inspiring speech outlining the vision for the coming year, emphasising unity, innovation and community engagement.
Examination results
Innocent Hearts College of Education soared high by achieving two merit positions and 25 per cent distinctions in the examination of B.Ed conducted by Guru Nanak Dev University. Yashika Jain achieved a merit position in GNDU and first position in the college with 79.47 per cent aggregate marks. Enna bagged a merit position in the university and second position in the college with 78.47 per cent aggregate marks. Diksha Mehta attained third position in the college with 77.76 per cent aggregate marks and Sonamdeep Kaur achieved fourth position in the college with 77.59 per cent aggregate marks in all the four semesters. Executive Director (Colleges) Aradhana Bowry cherished the progress made by the students and teachers. Principal Dr Arjinder Singh encouraged the would-be teachers to keep working and enhancing their teaching skills.
National Handloom Day
The PG Department of Fashion Designing, Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women, celebrated National Handloom Day. The students of the department enthusiastically participated to mark the day and made beautiful handicrafts by using different weaving techniques. Manjeet Kaur, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of Fashion Designing, explained the students about the importance of the day and various traditional fabrics available as India has a rich handloom heritage.
