Jalandhar: Emm Aar International School hosted an informative session for its students on traffic rules and the ill-effects of drug abuse. The session was conducted by SI Sukhjinder Singh and Head Constable Jasveer Singh from the Traffic Education Cell, Jalandhar (Rural). The officers imparted crucial knowledge about traffic rules and regulations, emphasising the importance of adhering to them for a safer road environment.

Principal honoured
Dr Jaspal Singh, Principal, Lyallpur Khalsa College, was honoured at the state-level conference on ‘Changing trends in higher education’ organised by the Higher Education Department of Punjab Government at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. He received the award as the college received the ‘A’ grade in the third cycle of NAAC assessment and accreditation. Harjot Singh Bains, Minister of Higher Education, KK Yadav, Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor, GNDU, Amrita Singh, Director, Higher Education Department, were present at the conference.

Roller Skating Championship
The closing ceremony of the 24th Roller Skating Championship 2024 was held at Police DAV Public School. The chief guest at the event was Inderbir Singh, DIG Administration, Punjab Armed Police (PAP). Skaters from various schools of Jalandhar district participated in it. Sargun Mehmi of Innocent Hearts School secured the first place in the quad event for girls aged 9 to 11 years. Sunaya Sharma of Ivy World School, Rama Mandi, secured first place in the inline competition. Sahib Deep Singh of Ivy World School secured the first place in quad boys in the age-group of 11 to 14 years.

Martyrdom day observed
The martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh was organised at ‘The Gurukul’ with fervour. A special assembly was conducted and a very warm tribute was given to the warrior of warriors by presenting a variety of programme on the theme ‘Patriotism’. A similar function was observed at New St. Soldier Senior Secondary Public School, Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, Jalandhar.

Dental check-up camp
A dental check-up camp was organised at Kamla Nehru Primary School, Hargobind Nagar, Phagwara, to make students aware about dental treatment and care. Dental specialist Dr Gurjit Singh and his team examined the teeth of students from Nursery to Grade V. The doctor made the students aware about dental care and motivated them to look after oral health.

National Parents’ Day
Eklavya School celebrated National Parents’ Day. The students greeted the parents and sang a song for them. Chairman JK Gupta explained that Parents’ Day is for the children to express their gratitude to their parents. Primary students drew their family picture and made a photo frame to make it memorable. Middle school students presented a number of programmes including dance, solo songs and English and Hindi recitation to mark the occasion.

Shiksha Saptah
Shiksha Saptah 2024, a week-long celebration dedicated to promote education and learning, was conducted in Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Senior Secondary School.
