Jalandhar: Cambridge International School, Phagwara, conducted its first Parent-Teacher Association meeting. It was attended by the representative of each class from Nursery to Class XII. The meeting was opened by principal Jorawar Singh. He informed parents about new projects and upgrade of the washrooms, robotic lab and the skating ground. Discussion on sports, academics and mental health of the students was held during the event. Jorawar Singh ensured parents of holistic development of students to make children not just academically strong, but also as well-rounded individuals ready to face future challenges.

Workshop on Data Science

Jalandhar: The ‘AI Pioneers’, an AI Club at Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus organised a Power BI workshop for students. The event was coordinated by Shiksha Saxena and Simranjit Kaur, under the guidance of Dr Pooja Bhasin, HOD of CSE, who aimed to provide industry-relevant knowledge to the students. The session was led by two industry experts, Bikramjit Singh and Gagandeep Singh, both certified Microsoft Data Analysts, along with Jasleen, an HR representative. The experts shared valuable insights into data analysis, reporting, and visualisation using Power BI, engaging students in hands-on activities to develop critical skills in data visualisation and business intelligence. Sukhbir Singh Chatha, Director, Academic Affairs, and Dr RS Deol, Director, LKCTC, commended Dy Director (Training and Placement) Kunal Verma, Dr Pooja Bhasin, Dean (Academics) and HOD CSE, and the CSE faculty members for their efforts in organising the workshop.

National Nutrition Month

Jalandhar: The Department of Zoology and Botany of Lyallpur Khalsa College organised an educational exhibition focusing on the theme “Healthy Living through Balanced Nutrition” to celebrate National Nutrition Month-2024. Principal Dr Jaspal Singh inaugurated the exhibition and appreciated the departmental efforts in organising the event. He said such programmes served as a platform for promoting awareness among the society about the profound impact of nutrition on health. In his inaugural address, he inspired students to be mindful of their choices and develop healthy dietary habits for a better future. Dr Gagandeep Kaur, head of the department, informed that the exhibition aims to raise awareness about the importance of proper nutrition and the role of healthier food options involving sustainable food resources in the overall wellbeing of the society. The exhibition featured diverse food sources such as vegetables, fruits, millets, cereals, nuts and medicinal plants that play a critical role in supporting human health. It also showcased interactive displays, informative posters, and live demonstrations, all designed to educate visitors on the nutritional value of different plant and animal food products.
