Jalandhar: CT Group campuses, Shahpur and Maqsudan, along with CT World School and CT Public School, came alive with the Republic Day celebrations. The events reflected a blend of patriotism, education, and cultural richness, engaging students, faculty, and management in honouring the nation’s 75-year legacy. The day began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by a parade by the NCC cadets, showcasing their discipline and dedication. Cultural programmes added charm to the festivities, with performances celebrating India’s diverse heritage. NCC Commmanding Officer Col Vinod Joshi said, “The youth are the torchbearers of the nation’s progress. It is heartening to witness their enthusiasm and commitment to preserving our cultural values while striving for excellence.”

National Voters’ Day

The Department of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with the Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) and NSS wing of DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology, celebrated National Voters’ Day under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme of the Election Commission of India. The event marked the foundation day of the Election Commission and aimed to encourage greater voter participation in the democratic process. Dr Surjit Lal, District Assistant Nodal Officer, SVEEP, Jalandhar, emphasised the importance of voting and highlighted the gap in voter turnout between urban and rural areas. He encouraged students to participate in elections and spread awareness. Dr Sudhir, officiating principal, spoke on voting as a responsibility and its role in shaping policies like the Right to Education Act and MGNREGA. He urged the students to become informed voters and engage in the democratic process.

Reducing carbon footprints

In a commendable initiative to promote environmental awareness and sustainable living under Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13, Innocent Hearts School has taken a significant step towards reducing carbon footprints. Students from all five branches of schools — Green Model Town, Loharan, Cantt-Jandiala Road, Noorpur Road, and Kapurthala Road and Innocent Hearts College of Education and Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions — actively participated in the campaign, reflecting their commitment to a greener future. The students took an oath to adopt a no-carbon footprint lifestyle, pledging to make conscious efforts to reduce energy consumption and minimise their impact on the environment during special assembly. Among the innovative ideas introduced was the concept of “No Ironing Day” observed twice a week to save energy and cut down carbon emissions. R-Day celebration at Apeejay

Apeejay School, Model Town, celebrated the 76th Republic Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The day began with a thematic morning assembly that highlighted the significance of the occasion and the core values of the Indian Constitution. The event featured a series of performances, including a moving patriotic speech by a student, which inspired the audience to uphold the spirit of unity and democracy. Melodious patriotic songs performed by the school choir added to the celebratory atmosphere, filling the campus with a sense of pride and devotion to the nation. Officiating principal Priyanka Grover addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of responsibility, discipline, and dedication in shaping the future of the country. She urged students to become conscientious citizens who contribute positively to society.

Traffic Awareness Activity

Jalandhar: State Public School, Jalandhar Cantt, organised a lively and educational traffic awareness activity for its kindergarten students, fostering early understanding of road safety and responsible behaviour.The activity aimed to instill crucial traffic rules and regulations in a fun and interactive manner. Teachers and staff created an engaging setup with miniature traffic signals, zebra crossings, and toy vehicles to simulate real-life road scenarios. Children enthusiastically participated in role-plays, learned the importance of using crosswalks, understanding traffic lights and wearing seat belt.The event concluded with a pledge by the young learners to follow traffic rules, ensuring safety for themselves and others. Parents and staff lauded the initiative, recognising its importance in creating a foundation for lifelong traffic discipline. President of the Group of State Public Schools Dr Narotam Singh, Vice President Dr Gagandeep Kaur and Principal Savina Bahl appreciated efforts of the mentors.

Pariksha Pe Charcha

Jalandhar: As a part of Pariksha Pe Charcha, various activities were conducted in Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Sr. Sec.School. Students participated in marathon, yoga sessions, indigenous games, mental health sessions etc. In the motivational sessions, they discussed how to relieve exam stress . Students participated in marathon run to promote physical fitness and mental well-being. All these activities highlighted the importance of a healthy mind and body in achieving academic success.
