Campus notes: Sanskriti KMV School

Jalandhar: Sanskriti KMV School celebrated the 75th Republic Day with a chain of activities aimed at nurturing patriotism and awareness among the students. Students showcased their fervour and talent through patriotic song recitals. Documentaries were screened, offering an insightful glimpse into India’s journey towards democracy and the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. A heritage quiz was conducted. Salad and card-making activities were held; students expressed their patriotic fervour through art and culinary skills. Principal Rachna Monga greeted the students with a resounding message of hope and unity.

Lyallpur Khalsa College Tech Campus

On the occasion of 75th Republic day, NCC/ NSS committee of Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus organised a patriotic event to pay tribute to the veterans of India who spent their life in protecting the nation along martyrs who sacrificed their life. Various competitions including poster-making, extempore and one-minute video display were organised. Celebrations also included singing by NCC cadets, bhangra and giddha performances. Prizes were given to the winners. The first prize in extempore was bagged by Chahat Verma while the second prize was a tie between Nandini and Abhiraj. In one-minute video, Manav secured the first position, Priyanshu and Gurpreet Singh got the second and third position, respectively. In poster-making, Shana Basri and Navdeep Kaur bagged the first position, Mahi and Amandeep Kaur bagged second position while Sandhya and Nancy secured the third position.

SD College for Women

The NCC and NSS units of Prem Chand Markanda SD College for Women in collaboration with Rotary Club (Jalandhar West), Jalandhar Welfare Society and New Ruby Hospital organised a bone density and anaemia check-up camp on National Girl Child Day. The move demonstrated a strong commitment to women empowerment and community welfare. It aimed at promoting health awareness among both students and outsiders. Dr SPS Grover, renowned cardiologist, owner of New Ruby Hospital and District Governor of Rotary Club (Jalandhar West) along with Dr Harneet Grover and his dedicated team, conducted the health check-up, focusing on bone density and anaemia. The camp witnessed the active participation of students and the wider community. In addition, Dr Harneet Grover, gynaecologist at Ruby Hospital, provided guidance to students about cervical cancer and the need for vaccination of girls aged 9 to 14. She announced a special offer for college girls, offering free vaccination until January 31, reducing the chances of the disease.

School of Hotel Management

The School of Hotel Management, Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus, organised Bakers’ Choice workshop for enhancing the skills of the students. Dishes for the Baker’s Day (American cuisine: Wine infused nutty cake) (Mexican, Italian, Napoleon cuisine : 48” pizza; French cuisine: Puffy Twisty and Iranian cuisine: Lavash). The day started with the welcoming of the dignitaries and Bakery chef Gunreet Kaur. HOD Arashdeep Singh shared, “It’s not about just a workshop for learning. Indeed it is the willingness of our students to learn and shine in future.” Sukhbir Singh Chatha, Director, Academic Affairs, KCL Group, appreciated the teamwork of the students and faculty members.

Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions

Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions, Loharan, celebrated academic brilliance through its mass PPT presentation contest for the students of Information Technology. Students from various semesters presented papers on diverse IT topics, including cyber security, mobile technology, various types of memory and artificial intelligence. The competition highlighted the students’ depth of knowledge and passion for learning. Aakash (BCA 6th semester) secured the first position with his insightful presentation on cyber security while Kiran (BCA 2nd semester) claimed the second position with a presentation on artificial intelligence.

DAV Institute of Engineering & tech

B.Tech student of DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology (DAVIET) Shrey Chander Soney has been selected by a US-based multinational company, Maxar Technologies, at a salary package of Rs 70 lakh per annum. Soney, while giving details of the offer, shared that his designation in the company will be of Associate Software Development Engineer. Dr Sanjeev Naval, Principal, DAVIET, congratulated Soney on his success. He also congratulated the Department of Training and Placement, especially Vishav Kapoor, Ratish Bhardwaj and faculty who guided the students and urged them to keep up the good work.

Mehr Chand Polytechnic College

Mehr Chand Polytechnic College organised a seminar on entrepreneurship under the banner of Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) and Industry Institute Interaction Cell. EDC in-charge Hira Mahajan and his team gave a formal welcome to Sanjeev Kundra, Functional Manager, District Industries Centre, Jalandhar, who was invited as a guest speaker. He guided the students in his lecture about the prospects of new start-up plans in the country. He also emphasised on the various schemes run by Central and state government for helping entrepreneurs, majorly under PM Vishwakarma Scheme. He ended his talk by solving the queries of the students about how they can establish their own start-ups and go for self-employment instead of seeking jobs. Prabhu Dayal was coordinator of the programme, which ended with a vote of thanks by Sanjay Bansal. Final year students of all classes participated in the seminar.

The Gurukul school

Balika Diwas was celebrated with enthusiasm in The Gurukul school. A special assembly was organised in the school in which the students shared the contribution and role of girls in society and country through speeches, poems and songs. School director Sushma Handa encouraged the girl students to become self-reliant. Addressing the school students on the occasion, Principal Radha Gakhar encouraged all the girl students to bring glory to their country and parents with their extraordinary work.

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya teams performed at the National Youth Festival organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India, at Nashik, Maharashtra. The students of the college represented Punjab in the National Youth Festival. KMVites displayed their talent and bagged the second runners-up position in the category of folk dance. The giddha team of KMV has been bagging top positions at the zonal and state-level youth festivals. Principal Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of the students and the talent they possess while emphasising the significant role played by such festivals in honing the talent of the students.
