Jalandhar: A van mahotsav was celebrated by the NSS unit and Red Ribbon Club of DAV College, Jalandhar, as per the guidelines of Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar. Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar gave important information to the NSS volunteers about the maintenance of the environment. He said the environment plays an important role in human life and therefore it is the moral responsibility of every human being to maintain it. NSS coordinator Dr Sahib Singh while sharing his thoughts with the volunteers said in today’s era, it is very important to maintain the environment. On the occasion, volunteers planted saplings in the college and pledged to take care of them. The volunteers took an oath to devote the entire week to the preservation of the environment. Dr Sunil Thakur of NCC Army wing said it is a big responsibility to plant and nurture the saplings. Prof Rahul Sekhri of the NCC Air wing was also present.

48 students get job letters

Fortyeight students from the Department of Management, Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus, have been employed by multinational companies on handsome salary packages. Shubhi, Aranpreet and Sunita have got a package of Rs 5 LPA with Arvind Fashions (a subsidiary of Tommy Hilfiger). Harleen, Jagdeep and Sourav were selected as managers with Bajaj Finserv Ltd at a package of Rs 4.93 LPA. Shrishti joined as a Senior Agency Manager at Rs 4.65 LPA salary package with Ageas Federal Life Insurance. Shivani and Chetna got selected at a salary package of Rs 3.5 LPA with Hoping Minds. Khushboo, Priyanaka, Jagdeep ,Chetna, Himanshu , Tarun, Sakshi have got selected as Assistant Managers with Axis Bank at Rs 3 LPA. Rinku Shriwas got selected as HR Executive with AICCPL, Chandigarh. Jaisica, Rahul, Salman and Pavneet have got selected as Acquisition Managers with Kotak Mahindra Bank at 3 Lakhs per annum salary package. Sukhbir Singh Chatha, Director, Academic Affairs, and Dr RS Deol, Director, LKCTC, extend their heartfelt congratulations to the students.

Students shine in MSc (Chem) exam

Students of M.Sc. Chemistry Sem I of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya got positions in examination conducted by Guru Nanak Dev University. Gulnaar Grewal got 8.76 SGPA, Manveen Kaur got 8.62 SGPA, Ritu got 8.34 SGPA and Surbhi Sharma got 8.10 SGPA. Principal Prof Ajay Sareen congratulated the students. On the occasion, head of department Deepshikha was also present.

Book released

Lyallpur Khalsa College and the Sahitya Kala Kendra organised a public presentation ceremony of the unique and very important book “Chitran Da Sahitya Sumail” written by versatile writer Santokh Bhullar. The book is about the cultural history of the portraits of Punjabi literary figures as portrayed by internationally renowned Punjabi painter Saroop Singh. The event was held at the college auditorium. In this book, 115 Punjabi writers related to Sufi, Gurmat, Qisa and modern literary trends along with portraits prepared by Saroop Singh of personalities belonging to five other cultures and informative written by Santokh Bhullar about the life and contribution of those personalities are included. Darshan Khatkar, the leading poet and thinker of the Punjabi Jujhar Vidrohi poetry movement, attended the event. Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh welcomed the literature and art lovers participating in the event and praised the great and valuable work done by painter Saroop Singh and writer Santokh Bhullar.

Students perform well in BEd exam

Students of St. Soldier College of Education, Jalandhar have performed well in the Guru Nanak Dev University results. College Principal Dr Alka Gupta said that the students performed well in the B.Ed. Semester-1 results declared recently. Manpreet Kaur got (CGPA 8.0), Chahat Chatrath (CGPA 7.90), Swati Sharma (CGPA 7.90), Swati Malhotra (CGPA 7.80), Tavleen Chugh (CGPA 7.80), Manvi Chopra (CGPA 7.80), Simi Aggarwal (CGPA 7.70), Maninder Kaur (CGPA 7.70) and Venika Chopra got (CGPA 7.70) brought laurels to the group. On this achievement of the students, Group Chairman Anil Chopra and Vice Chairperson Sangeeta Chopra congratulated the students.

TRAINING PROGRAMME

A three-day capacity building and training programme was initiated today at Police DAV Public School. The training programme was inaugurated by the lighting of the lamp by ARO Principal Dr. Rashmi Vij, Rajni Gupta, Officiating Principal Lala Jagat Narayan School, observer of the programme and resource persons. The programme was conducted under the aegis of DAV CAE and guidance of ARO Principal Dr Rashmi Vij and Cluster Head Yogesh Gambhir, Principal, DRV DAV Public School. Nearly 260 teachers teaching Nursery, LKG, UKG and those taking Science, IT, fine arts, dance, Music from classes third to XII from seven schools of Jalandhar zone along with Bhikhiwind, Batala and Amritsar participated. The training programme was coordinated by Coordinator Cinny Malhotra. On this occasion, ARO Dr. Rashmi Vij conducted a session in which she delved on aspects like learning outcomes and new pedagogy.

Novelist’s birth anniv celebrated

Amritsar: Guru Nanak Dev University celebrated the birth anniversary of renowned Punjabi novelist Nanak Singh in collaboration with the Nanak Singh Literary Foundation and the Nanak Singh Literary Center at Bhai Gurdas Library of the university. The event was organised under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu. Dr Manjinder Singh, Head of School of Punjabi Studies, highlighted Nanak Singh’s significant contribution to Punjabi literature and emphasised his unique style as a novelist. Born on July 4, 1897, in Chak Hameed (Pakistan), S Nanak Singh created literature across various genres, including poetry, short stories, and novels.
