An inter-school sahodaya slogan writing competition was conducted at Swami Sant Dass Public School, Phagwara. About 45 schools participated in the event. In category 1, Bani Bajaj from La Blossom School bagged the first position. Armaan from Innocent Hearts School came second and Taruna from Lala Jagat Narain DAV School bagged the third position. Pawani Bari from Kamla Nehru Public School won the consolation prize. In category 2, Vanshika Rattu from Shri Hanumat International Public School bagged first, Mandeep Kaur from DIPS, Tanda, got second, Simar Rayat from Doaba Public Senior Secondary School bagged third position and Simranjit Kaur from Cambridge International School, Nakodar, bagged consolation prize. The overall trophy was won by DIPS, Tanda. Principal Anju Mehta thanked the judges and audience, and congratulated the prize winners.

St Soldier Divine Public School

Jalandhar: During the District Badminton Championship, Aaina Chopra, a student of St Soldier Divine Public School, won the gold medal in the Under-11 age group girls doubles final. The competition was held at Raizada Hansraj Badminton Stadium. Aaina started playing badminton at the age of 4, and devoted two to three hours a day to her game in the morning and evening. She said that she will continue to work hard and bring glory to India and her parents in the Olympics, too. Group Chairman Anil Chopra and Vice-Chairperson Sangeeta Chopra appreciated her efforts and wished her a bright future.

Emm Aar International School

Emm Aar International School, Adampur, is celebrating the 78th Independence Day with a ‘Tiranga Yatra’. The procession will begin at canal (Ram Nagar Point) and proceed through MES Road, Railway Road, Main Road, ending at the police station. The event will feature participation from students, with parents invited to join and witness this patriotic celebration.

Swami Sant Dass Public School

Amarveer Singh, a roller skater of Class VIII of Swami Sant Dass Public School, demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship by winning top medals on the skating track. He participated in 24th District Roller Skating Championship held at Police DAV Public school, Jalandhar, from July 30-31, which was organised by the District Roller Skating Association. He won gold medals in two major competitions-inline 1,000m and 500+D inline competition. Principal Sonia Mago appreciated his outstanding performance and dedication on the track.

Guru Nanak College of Education

The Library Club of Montgomery Guru Nanak College of Education celebrated ‘National Librarian’s Day’ on the college premises. College librarian Satinderbir Kaur made the students aware about the history behind the day and its importance in the field of education and society. A poster-making competition was organised on the theme ‘Importance of Library’. Sehajpal stood first and Deepinder Kaur bagged the second position. Principal Neelu Jhanji congratulated the winners and appealed students to visit the library more often and widen their horizons of knowledge.

Sant Baba Bhag Singh School

The Investiture Ceremony for the academic session 2024-25 was held at Sant Baba Bhag Singh International School, Khiala. The ceremony was administered by Baba Janak Singh, Principal Ranjit Singh, Vice-Principal Baljit Singh and head coordinator Sarabjit Kaur. It was commenced with shabad. The representatives of the newly-elected students’ council announced the names of the Head Girl and Head boy. The student council took the pledge to hold the school motto. The principal congratulated the students and addressed them to be impartial and honest in leadership, unity, discipline and morality. The function concluded with the speech of newly elected Head girl Sucheta.

Hindu Kanya College

The NSS units of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala, organised an extension lecture on Union Budget 2024-25. Resource person Richa Arora, chartered accountant, apprised the students about the highlights of the Budget such as tax slabs, kisan credit scheme and schemes for youth development. She said the current Union Budget presented by the Finance Minister chalks out the blueprint to support Indian economy and promote social welfare. She encouraged students to get acquainted with all proposals presented in the Union Budget. Amanjyoti, Programme Officer of NSS Unit, expressed gratitude to the resource person for the enlightening session. Principal Archna Garg appreciated the efforts of the NSS units to sensitise students about the parameters of the Budget. NSS Programme Officer Suvit Das coordinated the event.

Innocent Hearts

To spread traffic awareness at Innocent Hearts, Traffic Education Cell organised a seminar for school bus drivers under the Safe School Vehicle Scheme. The seminar was organised as per the directions of Swapan Sharma, Commissioner of Police. Under the leadership of Amandeep Kaur, ADCP Traffic, Aatish Bhatia, ACP Traffic, SI Ranjit Singh and ASI Shamsher Singh made all the drivers and conductors aware of the scheme. They explained to the drivers that they should get their vehicles serviced regularly. They administered an oath to all the bus drivers, conductors and helpers that they will follow all traffic rules. During the seminar, the drivers present there also put forward their problems, which were resolved in a very appropriate manner. TNS
