Jalandhar: To acquaint the students with role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the IT industry, the Department of IT of Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus organised a workshop on AI Tools. The resourceperson for the same was Shiv Shankar (AI and ML Expert, Techcadd). Shiv initiated the session with key concepts on artificial intelligence; defining critical terms, capabilities as well as current limitations of AI. Basic algorithms were also covered during the session. All algorithms were based on python programming language. Dr Nidhi Chopra (Dean Student Welfare and Head, IT Dept) presented a vote of thanks to the resourceperson for sharing his knowledge and skills with the students.
Conference on education trends
Jalandhar: The Xavier Board of Higher Education in India (XBHEI), a national-level organisation of higher educational institutions in India, is organising its annual conference at Trinity College, Jalandhar, from September 14 to 16 on the theme 'Evolving trends in higher education in the digital age'. The conference is likely to be attended by more than 200 Vice Chancellors, Principals, educators and policy makers representing Catholic Institutions of Higher Education from all over India. Under the leadership of Father Dr L Joji Reddy, national president of XBHEI, the conference will feature dynamic discussions, expert talks and insightful panel sessions exploring recent advancements and challenges in integrating technology into higher education. The conference will be graced by the presence of Archbishop Elias Gonsalves, Chairman for Education and Culture, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI), Rev Dr Angelo Rufino Gracious, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Jalandhar, Father Victor Lobo, Vice Chancellor, St Joseph’s University, Bengaluru, among others.
Talent Fiesta organised
Jalandhar: The programme comprised competitions in various categories related to dramatics, music, dance, literary items etc. Students from all streams exhibited their myriad skills in items like group dance and singing. In modelling, Miss Fresher title went to Anisha, the first runner-up was Shubhneet and second runner-up was Riya. In group dance, Harmandeep Kaur and her team bagged the first prize.
Dr Jagroop becomes Best Principal
Jalandhar: Principal of Mehr Chand Polytechnic College Dr Jagroop Singh was conferred with Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan Excellence Award by Preethvi Educators Association of India (PAAI) group in a function organised at Maharishi University of Information and Technology, Noida. The Vice Chancellor of MUIT Noida, Dr Bhanu Partap Singh, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Dr Jagroop Singh said that he got more pleasure and contentment in receiving this award as it was also bestowed on Dr Hardeep Singh, a former student of Mehr Chand Polytechnic College, who did diploma in 1996.
Workshop on Ethical Hacking
Jalandhar: Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC) organised a workshop on 'Ethical hacking' in collaboration with Meander Software Private Limited. The workshop was organised for students of BTech, BCA, and MCA. Resourcepersons Anil Chaudhary and Kamlesh Yadav, trainers from Meander Software Private Limited, led the session. The workshop aimed to equip students with the knowledge to identify cyber threats, while also stressing the importance of using these skills ethically and for constructive purposes. Dr Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, commended the faculty members for their efforts in organising the workshop and emphasised the value of extra-curricular activities.
