Ten students from institutes in Jalandhar and Ludhiana have been shortlisted to represent their vision of a developed India at the state-level Viksit Bharat competition. The selection took place during the District Youth Parliament 2025, hosted by DAV University under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The shortlisted students are Sakshi Sharma (Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar), Sukhdev Chhabra (DAVIET), Apurva (Lyallpur Khalsa College), Riya (Saint Soldier Law College, Jalandhar), Dilpreet Kaur (APJ Institute of Management Engineering Technical Campus), Divishi Verma (DAV College Jalandhar), Pratham Bhanot (PCTE Ludhiana), Ruby (CT College of Education Jalandhar), Tushar Chadha (DAV College Jalandhar), and Jatin Sethi (SCD Govt College, Ludhiana). The two-day programme evaluated 100 participants on content relevance, clarity, structure, language, and fluency.

Water Sustainability Award

Jalandhar: Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya has been honoured with the Water Sustainability Award 2025-26 by the National EduTrust of India. The prestigious recognition celebrates the college's contribution to water management through its Best Action Research Plan: Best Out of Waste Water. Principal Dr Ajay Sareen honoured Nodal Officer Dr Anjana Bhatia for her dedication and contributions. The occasion was graced by distinguished guests from Nehru Arts and Science College, Tamil Nadu, who are visiting HMV under the Student Exchange Programme. Samarth Sharma, CEO of the National EduTrust of India, congratulated HMV family for the achievement.

Industrial visit

Kapurthala: The Department of Fashion Designing of Hindu Kanya College organised a one-day industrial visit to Parmeshwari Silk Mills Ltd, Ludhiana. Thirty students, accompanied by Sarika Kanda, Head, and Harkirat Kaur, faculty member, gained practical knowledge about weaving, dyeing, digital printing and screen-printing techniques. College Principal Dr Archna Garg commended the organisers for promoting practical learning and industrial exposure, providing students with a comprehensive education beyond the classroom.

Caption-writing competition

Jalandhar: Nine students from Shiv Jyoti Public School participated in an inter-school caption contest competition organised to celebrate World Water Day by Pushpa Gujral Science City. Rohini Sharma of Class IX got the second position in the competition under the guidance of her teachers - Latika, Shallu Sood, Sandeep Saini Rashmi Mandal and Bhavna Sabharwal. Principal Parveen Saili congratulated her parents and guide teachers and blessed the winner.
