Jalandhar, July 8

Having maintained a suspense over releasing purported audio evidence against AAP leaders regarding corruption allegations till the last day of campaign on Monday, former MLA and BJP candidate Sheetal Angural did another anti-climax saying that he could hand over the pen drive to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann even after July 10, the polling date for the Jalandhar West bypoll.

Amid allegations throughout the day by the Congress that AAP and the BJP were in a “hidden alliance” as no audio had been released by Angural despite all the hype for the past few days, Angural went live on Facebook again this evening giving his new version. Angural said, “I waited for the CM on July 4, but he did not come. Since that day, I have been moving around in Jalandhar West carrying the audio evidence in a pen drive in my pocket hoping that I would be able to hand it over to him wherever I spot him, maybe at a public meeting. Since then, I have been expecting a phone call or a message from the CM. I was even hoping that he could call me to his rally for this as I want to hand it over to him in a public forum.”

He said, “I understand that he is busy with the election these days. I am fighting a battle against corruption and still have respect for the CM. If you still have faith in me, please take it from me, maybe even after July 10, the polling day. If you take the evidence from me, people of Jalandhar and Punjab will realise that there is someone who wants to end corruption. I will give you another chance to take the pen drive even after July 10. If you do not turn up, I will have to think of a suitable person.”

In yet another video interview, clips of which he posted on his social media pages, Angural claimed that he was part of a group of 28 MLAs who had met the party high command over dislodging Mann, a month ahead of his resignation from AAP.
