As part of the initiative, a candlelight awareness march was held from Ghantaghar Chowk to Maharishi Valmiki Chowk (Sabji Mandi) on Thursday evening. The aim of the campaign was to spread awareness among youth and the general public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to collectively resolve to build a drug-free society.

In his address, MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa said drug addiction remains the biggest obstacle to the development of society, and tackling it requires not only stringent legal action but also public participation and increased social awareness.

He emphasised that while the state government and district administration are taking strict measures against drug trafficking, every citizen’s cooperation is essential to eliminate this social evil from its roots.
