Car driven by BSF jawan rams into tipper, wife hurt seriously

Four persons were injured in an accident which took place in the morning in front of Capitol Hospital near the Pathankot bypass in Jalandhar.

A car bearing a Jammu and Kashmir number, collided with a tipper parked on the road.

The injured persons include a BSF Head Constable Manish Kumar, his wife and two children. While the children sustained injuries, the condition of the wife of the BSF employee is especially critical.

The woman sustained serious injuries on her head.

The injured have been admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

The accident happened at 8 am this morning. The BSF man was heading to Chandigarh for duty with his family, after spending the holidays at home. The impact of the accident was so strong that the BSF man's vehicle front was crushed. Passersby and witnesses retrieved the family members from the vehicle. The witnesses said drowsiness could be one of the reasons for the accident.

They also said while the man was in his senses, the woman had been hurt in the head and was unconscious.

The tipper driver said his tipper broke down about an hour ago. He was repairing it by putting a jack under it, when the car suddenly hit it from behind.

Ambulance driver Rajkumar, a witness, who was present near the spot, said a vehicle coming at a high speed lost balance and collided with the tipper.

ASI Gurmel Singh said, "The woman has received a serious injury on her head and the children have also sustained injuries. The BSF jawan did not receive major injury but is currently in a state of shock."

The police said the injured were admitted to the hospital.
