Caretaker's son 'arrested' for Garhshankar double murder
Was disturbed by 'illicit relations' of his mother with NRI
In a shocking incident in Moranwali village, the Garhshankar police have reportedly arrested the son of a female caretaker in connection with the brutal murder of an NRI and his caretaker. The police are currently on the lookout for his accomplices.
According to SHO Gagandeep Singh Sekhon, while on patrol duty at Adda Kitna, he received information about the double murder of NRI Santokh Singh and his caretaker, Manjeet Kaur, wife of Lakhwinder Singh from Bath village, Nurmahal, Jalandhar.
Preliminary investigations pointed to Manjeet Kaur’s son, Mandeep Singh alias Deepa, as the prime suspect. As per the FIR, Mandeep was reportedly disturbed by his mother’s alleged illicit relationship with Santokh Singh. Despite his repeated objections, Manjeet Kaur continued the association, which allegedly enraged Mandeep. In a fit of anger, he, along with unidentified accomplices, attacked and killed both Santokh and his mother using sharp-edged weapons.
While police officials have not officially confirmed any arrests, sources indicate that Mandeep Singh has been taken into custody. Efforts are underway to apprehend another suspect believed to have been involved in the crime.
The bodies have been handed over to the families after post-mortem examinations.
Santokh Singh had returned to Moranwali from Canada about three months ago. He had hired Manjeet Kaur as a caretaker for himself and his elder brother, Jagdish Singh. Locals reported that Mandeep frequently visited the village, often accompanied by other youths. Over time, he grew suspicious of his mother’s relationship with the NRI, which allegedly led to the tragic incident.
