Following the meeting, a protest march was taken out from the office to Maharaja Jassa Singh Ramgarhia Chowk against the case registered against Bikram Singh Majithia, alleged to be politically motivated. The protest culminated in the burning of an effigy of the Punjab government.
Speaking on the occasion, Lakhwinder Singh Lakhi Giljian said that Bikram Singh Majithia openly exposes the incompetence of the Punjab government and plans to release videos involving the government’s cabinet ministers soon. He claimed this is why the Aam Aadmi Party government is determined to get Majithia jailed through various cases.
He added that most officers refused to allow the government to file false cases against Majithia, but one suspended officer was reinstated, likely on the condition that a case be registered against Majithia — which eventually happened.
Lakhi Giljian said the AAP government should study the history of the Akalis to understand they are not afraid of false cases. He assured that every Shiromani Akali Dal worker will firmly stand with Bikram Singh Majithia and predicted the government will have to bow down one day. He further stated that the entire Shiromani Akali Dal will give a befitting reply to the bullying of Majithia.
