The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police on Tuesday conducted a special Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) under “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign at 32 identified hotspots across the city.
Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur along with other senior police officers, visited Burlton Park to review the operation and assess the situation on the ground. The CP said based on public complaints and inputs received during ongoing investigations, 32 locations, including Burlton Park, Dhankia Mohalla, Abadpura, Bhargo Camp, Mangu Basti and others, were specifically targeted. These areas were identified due to suspected drug-related activities and were, therefore, marked as priority zones for the operation.
During CASO, police teams conducted frisking of suspicious individuals, intensive checking of vehicles and maintained heightened surveillance in densely populated areas.
The CP further said during the operation, 11 FIRs under the NDPS Act have already been registered.
