Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker and Garhshankar MLA Jai Krishan Singh Rouri on Wednesday handed over the solar system to Chak Phullu village, further accelerating the campaign of sustainable development through new technologies.
He said the project was a huge step towards environment-friendly energy production and had been prepared keeping in mind the basic needs of the villagers.
Sarpanch Kamaljit Kaur, Panchs Harpreet Kaur, Devi Kaur, Mahendra Pal, Sukhwinder and Rita Rani, and Lambardar Pradeep Loi of the village were present on the occasion.
Rouri said the state government was constantly striving towards progress, modernisation and environmental protection of villages. It was very important for the future that they moved towards new energy sources such as solar energy instead of depending on wood or diesel, he added.
The villagers also praised the Deputy Speaker for the step and thanked him.
He said such efforts played an important role in connecting the villages to the modern era. Rouri said the initiative was a symbol of continuous change and a big step towards improving the living standards of people.
