Led by Dr Manpreet Kaur, Senior Medical Officer at Primary Health Centre, Chakkowal, health workers issued challans to smokers in public places at Nasrala.

Health Inspector Kashmiri Lal said that under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), if a person smokes a cigarette or bidi in a public place, he is fined. Apart from this, advertising of tobacco and tobacco products is also prohibited by law. Selling tobacco within 100 metres of schools and educational institutions is also a crime by law. Apart from this, smoking poses a risk of respiratory diseases and lung cancer. Among those present on the occasion were Vipin Kumar, Kuldeep Kumar, Amit Sharma, Lehmber Singh and Harwinder Singh.
