Checkmate: Over 25 schools battle it out in district championship

Students from more than 25 schools across the district showcased their skills at the District Chess Championship, organised by the Punjab School Education Board at La Blossoms School.

The championship was inaugurated in the presence of La Blossoms School Principal Nidhi Chopra, GGSSS Jamsher Khas Principal and convener Jaswinder Kaur, Assistant Conveners Nikhil Hans and Gurinder Kaur from Meritorious School, and Sports Department Head Pawan Kumar.

In the boys' category, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg clinched the top spot in both under-14 and under-17 segments, while Innocent Hearts, GMT, emerged victorious in the under-19 category. Among the girls, Ivy World School took first place in the under-14 group, La Blossoms School topped the under-17 and Cambridge Co-Ed School led the under-19 category.

Host school La Blossoms delivered a strong performance, bagging second place in the girls' under-14, first in under-17, and third in under-19 categories. In the boys' events, they secured second in under-14 and third in under-19. The under-17 boys' team, in particular, drew praise for their spirited participation.

Standout performers from La Blossoms School included Aradhya, Naira, Sanskriti, Avneet, and Navneet in the under-14 girls' category, and Jeenal, Aarna, Radhika, Manreet, and Tanishqa in under-19.

In the boys' segment, Aarav Goyal, Ayansh Thakur, Keshav Garg, Lakshya, and under-17 participants Vidish Agarwal, Ayansh Sood, Himansh, Ekam, Kushang, along with under-19 players Kunsh Gulati, Satyam, Jagrit and Armaan gave commendable performances.

At the closing ceremony, Vice-Chairman of La Blossoms School Anirudh Murria felicitated the winners. The school management and staff extended congratulations to all the participants and wished them continued success.
