Cheema joins Valmiki yatra, calls for communal harmony

Punjab Finance, Excise and Taxation and Planning Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Monday participated in the shobha yatra held in the city to mark the Prakash Utsav of Bhagwan Valmiki.

On the occasion, Cheema called upon people to strengthen mutual brotherhood and adopt the teachings of Bhagwan Valmiki that promote unity and social harmony. Urging people to draw inspiration from these values to build an ideal society, he announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh for the City Valmiki Sabha.

Lok Sabha MP Charanjit Channi condemned the recent Hindu-Muslim clash in a message. Ministers Lal Chand Kataruchak, Gurmeet Singh Khudian, Barinder Kumar Goyal and Mohinder Bhagat praised Bhagwan Valmiki's teachings and announced grants of Rs 2 lakh, Rs 2.5 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 5 lakh respectively for the City Valmiki Sabha, highlighting messages of equality, harmony and service to society.
