The Commissionerate Police of Jalandhar conducted an extensive security operation at Jalandhar City and Cantt railway stations as part of a proactive drive to ensure public safety ahead of the upcoming Republic Day on January 26.

Under the leadership of ACP, Special Crime, Barjinder Singh and ACP, North, Rishabh Bhola, the cordon and search operation (CASO) was carried out with the support from station house officers (SHOs) and their teams. Over 100 police personnel were deployed during the operation to ensure vigilance, monitor any suspicious activities and maintain law and order.

Key actions during the operation included anti-sabotage measures, deployment of sniffer dogs and the use of advance equipment like metal detectors for screening passengers and luggage.

Two ARP teams comprising 40 officers were stationed at the city and cantt railway stations to oversee smooth coordination and thorough inspections. Passengers underwent rigorous checks for suspicious behavior and illegal items, while police teams seizing hazardous materials, scanning luggage and conducting random vehicle and area checks to pre-empt any threats.

Additionally, officers efficiently managed crowd control during peak hours and worked in close coordination with the railway authorities to establish comprehensive security protocols. “The initiative reflects the commitment of Jalandhar Police to public safety and preparedness as the city gears up to celebrate the Republic Day,” said police officials.
