The Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has written to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the shortage of medicines and other essentials at the Civil Hospital, Jalandhar.

BJYM vice-president Ashok Sareen Hickey has also attached with the letter a list of 20 essentials, including syringes, fluid, Betadine and Diclofenac — which he claims are currently unavailable at the hospital. “Along with an out-of-order ultrasound machine at the Civil Hospital, medicine, injections, glucose and Betadine solution (to be applied on wounds) are unavailable… people are forced to get medicines from outside at exorbitant prices,” stated the letter.

Civil Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Rajiv Sharma said: “We are addressing the shortage of medicines on priority. Syringes are being procured and the demand of the rest of the medicines has been sent to the authorities.”
