Dasuya’s renowned cloth merchant was threatened over phone call, besides demanding Rs 50 lakh ransom from him. The caller, calling from a foreign number, introduced himself as a gangster and demanded ransom from the cloth merchant, while threatening to kill him in case of non-payment. As soon as the complaint of the incident was received, the Dasuya police registered a case against an unidentified person under various sections of the BNS on the statement of merchant identified as Raghav and started investigation into the matter.

Giving information in this regard, Dasuya DSP Balwinder Singh Jaura said son of the said cloth merchant received a call from an unidentified person who threatened to kill him and demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh from him. He said a case was registered and probe initiated into the matter.
