Jalandhar Cantt MLA Pargat Singh on Thursday said the government had completely lost control over law and order. He said Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann remained occupied with domestic and foreign trips instead of focusing on the deteriorating situation at home. "The Chief Minister should postpone his foreign tours and work to restore peace and security so that people living in fear can get relief," he said.

Pargat alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party was using every possible tactic to undermine democracy in the upcoming zila parishad and block samiti elections. Instead of ensuring free and fair elections, the government was openly flouting the election code of conduct, he said.

During a whirlwind tour of various villages in his Jalandhar Cantonment Assembly constituency, including Kadianwali, Salempur Masand, Jamsher, Bambianwal, Kukkad Pind, Kot Kalan, Sarhali, and Kot Khurd, Pargat exposed what he called the “hollow policies” of the AAP government. He said the government has turned Punjab into a “police state”.

“The downfall of the government has already begun,” he declared. “Disillusioned by their broken promises and misgovernance, the people are ready to show them the door.”

Appealing to the public, Pargat urged them to ensure the victory of Congress candidates contesting the elections. He further alleged that the AAP government was resorting to unfair practices — tearing, hiding, or rejecting nomination papers of several Congress candidates without valid reasons — to prevent them from contesting.
