Colour, creativity flow at Science City flower show
Pushpa Gujral Science City organised its annual flower show, attracting over 500 students, gardening enthusiasts and the general public by celebrating the beauty of nature. The event featured a variety of competitions, including painting, fresh flower arrangements, dry flower displays, rangoli and potted plant exhibition.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Munish Soin, Scientist-D, Science City, emphasised the importance of flowers and environmental conservation. He said that the flower show was a wonderful way for individuals and families to spend time together while learning about floral biodiversity of the region. “The event not only celebrates flowers but also encourages people to appreciate nature and take care of the environment for a better future,” Soin said.
Results: In the rangoli competition (college category), Anand College, Kapurthala, achieved the first prize. KMV College, Jalandhar, and Guru Nanak Institute of Nursing, Jalandhar, secured the second and third prizes, respectively.
In the school category, Mahavir Jain School, Jalandhar, secured the first position, while St Soldier Divine Public School, Kapurthala, and DAV Model High School were adjudged second and third, respectively.
In the dry flower arrangement competition, Jasbir Kaur from Kapurthala received the first prize. Vaishnavi from Parvati Jain School, Jalandhar, and students from HPP High School, Kapurthala, secured the second and third prizes, respectively.
In the fresh flower competition, Rachna from Kapurthala stood first, while Poonam Saini from Nishkam Sewa Society, Jalandhar, and Kiran from HMV College, Jalandhar, received the second and third prizes.
