A three-day international conference on chemical, bio and environmental engineering (CHEMBIOEN-2021) was inaugurated yesterday at Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology. The conference was being organised by the Department of Chemical Engineering in dual mode (offline as well as online). The conference aims to provide a joint platform to chemical, bio and environmental engineers to come together to deliberate on the recent industrial as well as societal engineering issues, and innovative technologies to deal with them.
The inauguration started with welcome address by Dr Nitin Pandhare and Dr Deepak Sahu, Organising Secretaries of CHEMBIOEN-2021. More than 350 research papers have been received for the conference from different countries such as Canada, UK, Austria, Malaysia, Ethiopia, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Albania, Vietnam, Nepal and India.
Dr JK Ratan, Chairman of CHEMBIOEN-2021, said it is the proud moment for the institute that the four reputed international journals of engineering and technology have agreed to publish the special issues of the selected research papers presented at the international conference. The international journals which collaborated with CHEMBIOEN-2021 are Environmental Technology and Innovations (Elsevier), Environmental Science and Pollution Research (Springer), Nanotechnology for Environmental Engineering (Springer), and Book Series on Environmental Science and Engineering (Springer).
During the inauguration ceremony, Prof LK Awasthi, Director NITJ, said chemical, bio and environmental engineering are complementary to each other. He urged to discuss the solution to the problems of chromium pollution, stubble burning, and water resource protection for the benefit of the mankind. Dr MK Gupta, Director, CPPRI, Saharanpur, and Dr Pamita Awasthi, NIT Hamirpur, wished best of luck to the conference, and emphasised on interdisciplinary research and its application to the industry..
Dr Anjireddy Bhavanam, Organising Secretary, presented the vote of thanks at the end of the inaugural session.
