The Phagwara unit of the Congress organised a candle march to protest what it described as “vote theft” during recent elections. The demonstration, held at Dr Ambedkar Park in Hargobind Nagar, was led by Phagwara MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal.

Dozens of party workers and local activists participated in the march, carrying lit candles and placards to express their dissatisfaction with the BJP-led Central Government and the Election Commission of India. The protesters alleged that democratic processes had been compromised and demanded accountability from the authorities.

Speaking at the event, MLA Dhaliwal said the march was a symbolic act to “highlight the weakening of democratic institutions” and to remind the public that “the sanctity of the vote must be protected at all costs.” The gathering remained peaceful throughout.
