In a significant step toward promoting women’s health, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police organised a special awareness camp at Jalandhar Police Lines to mark International Women’s Day. The initiative aimed to educate women, particularly those in law enforcement, about critical health issues and the importance of preventive care.
The camp featured expert sessions by renowned medical professionals, including Dr Pooja Kapoor (IMA Secretary), Dr Ruchi Bhargav (Senior Gynecologist), Dr Seema Sood (Senior Dermatologist) and Dr MS Bhutani (IMA president). These specialists addressed key health concerns affecting women, focusing on cervical cancer, breast cancer and skin diseases. They emphasised the importance of early detection, routine screenings and preventive measures, highlighting that timely medical intervention can significantly reduce health risks.
Dr Ruchi Bhargav stressed the need for cervical cancer vaccination and routine screenings, underscoring their role in prevention. Dr Seema Sood spoke about common skin ailments that women face due to occupational exposure and stress. Meanwhile, Dr MS Bhutani and Dr Pooja Kapoor emphasised the significance of balanced nutrition, mental health care and lifestyle modifications in maintaining overall well-being.
Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur addressed the gathering, encouraging women, particularly police personnel, to prioritise their health despite their demanding schedules. She acknowledged the dual responsibilities that many women juggle and urged them to adopt strategies that promote a healthy work-life balance. She reiterated that physical and mental well-being are crucial for both personal and professional success.
The event provided a valuable platform for women to learn, interact and seek guidance from medical experts. Participants engaged in interactive sessions where they could ask questions, dispel myths and gain practical insights into managing their health.
“By organising this camp, we not only reinforced our commitment to the well-being of our women officers but also set a strong example for prioritising women’s health in the workplace,” said CP Kaur.
