Covid threat: Minister instructs officials to keep strict vigil

Phagwara, March 19

State Industry & Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora held a meeting with Kapurthala DC Deepti Uppal, SSP Satinder Singh, ADC Gurmit Singh Multani, SP Manwinder Singh, Kapurthala CMO Dr Jasmeet, SDM Gurwinder Singh Johal and SMO Dr DP Singh to discuss increasing coronavirus threat at a local rest house here on Thursday.

The minister instructed the officials to keep a strict vigil and ask people to adopt necessary preventive measures. Meanwhile, SMO Dr DP Singh while talking to The Tribune said among the suspects, Jaswinder Kaur of Sidhwan village is under treatment at Gandhi Hospital, Mandeep Singh of Dallewal village, Tersem Virk (a UK return), Gurbax Kaur of Phagwara, Mohinder Kaur of Jassomajra village (a UK return), Hardeep Kaur of Bhularai village are being treated at various private hospitals and being kept at isolation wards.

DC Uppal asked the officials to work actively to control the spread of coronavirus. She said the Health Department is monitoring the situation. CMO appealed the people to adopt all required precautions to avoid infection.
