The Ferozepur Railways Division has decided to distribute 1,773 common user group (CUG) SIMs among supervisors and employees engaged in improvement the safety of passengers and operation of trains.
The SIMs would bridge the communication gap between senior officials of the Railways and supervisors working on ground or inside the trains.
The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Ferozepur, Rajesh Agarwal, said the initiative had been taken to make sure that there were no barriers in conveying any important information. Earlier, supervisors had to visit offices at various railway stations to communicate any information related to grievances of passengers of schedule of trains. However with the availability of CUG SIM’s, any important information would be forwarded immediately, added DRM.
Untill now, CUG SIMs were provided to senior railway officers only. Now, these would be available to managing staff as well. Regional Railways spokesperson said by getting the CUG SIMs, supervisors would get connected with each other. With this, any information such as diversion or short termination of trains in situations of emergency would be channelised in short time. In addition, in case of any accident, supervisors on ground duty could be informed immediately.
