Daily Morning Football Club bags second win in a row

The Daily Morning Football Club Nawanshahr secured its second consecutive victory on Thursday in the ongoing football tournament organised by the Hargobind Nagar Football Club, Nawanshahr. The tournament is part of a district-wide campaign titled “War against Drugs.”

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Education and Information Officer Tarsem Lal shared that the 9-a-side tournament is being held from July 15 to July 19 as a contribution to the anti-drug initiative. The key objective of the tournament is to channel the energy of the youth toward sports and away from drug abuse.

The match held on July 17 featured a face-off between the Daily Morning Football Club Nawanshahr and the team from Balura village. The first half saw excellent coordination and passing from players including Ajay Mehra, Avtar Singh, Tarsem Lal, Sarabjit Singh, and others.

In the second half, Balura Football Club made several attempts at goal through aggressive shooting. However, their efforts were blocked by a solid defence led by Sarabjit Sabi, Tarsem Lal, Minta Guzar Pooriyan and Harish Bhatia, along with impressive goalkeeping by Ajay Sareen. The match ended with a 1-0 victory for the Daily Morning Football Club Nawanshahr.

Club President Ajay Mehra emphasised the importance of such tournaments in genuinely advancing the “War against Drugs” campaign.

Deputy Officer Tarsem Lal further added, “Our club aims to steer the youth toward sports so they stay away from substance abuse and contribute meaningfully to the progress of the country.”
