Dal Khalsa to hold march on Aug 13

Hoshiarpur, August 3
To mark its 46th foundation day, Dal Khalsa has resolved to hold a “freedom march” in Hoshiarpur on August 13. It will be dedicated to prominent Sikh leader Bhai Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was killed in Canada last year and Dal Khalsa founder Bhai Gajinder, who passed away in Lahore last month. Both of them were declared “wanted” by the Government of India and the Akal Takht Sahib had directed the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) to place their portraits in the Central Sikh Museum.
An announcement about the march was made by the leaders of the organisation at a press conference here today. They said it will start from Gurdwara Singh Sabha and culminate at Bus Stand Chowk.
Addressing the press conference, Kanwarpal Singh and Paramjit Singh Tanda said that to take the Sikh struggle forward and seek the right of self-determination for the people of Punjab under the United Nations, Dal Khalsa will walk on streets under the nomenclature of ‘freedom march’ on the eve of India’s independence.
Dal Khalsa leaders said there will be a panthic gathering at the Gurdwara Singh Sabha where leaders and representatives of Sikh organisations will share their views on the burning issues and challenges faced by Panth and Punjab before the march. They said that Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar president Simranjit Singh Mann will be the chief guest of the event.
Speaking on the ongoing internal power-tussle and crisis within the Akali Dal, Kanwarpal Singh said the current leadership of the Akali Dal was responsible for ruining the future party and the Jathedar of the Akal Takht Sahib should dissolve the entire organisational structure and hand over the reins of the SAD to the Akalis with a clean image.
