The Red Bull Bhangra Brrrawl National Finals lit up Jalandhar on Tuesday as eight vibrant teams went head-to-head in an evening filled with energy, culture and pure bhangra spirit at Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar.
In a series of intense knockout battles, DAV College, Jalandhar, delivered back-to-back powerhouse performances to clinch the national title. The top eight teams included DAV College Jalandhar, Dehradun Bhangra Club, Groove 6, Bhadkille Ghabru, Josh Crew, Udaariyan, The Folksterz and M2 Bhangra.
The competition began with open online auditions where bhangra crews of three to six members (aged 16+) submitted original three-minute group performance videos. From these, teams were shortlisted for city-level qualifiers in Chandigarh and Jalandhar. Four teams from each city advanced to the national finals, completing the top eight line-up.
The National Final followed a multi-round structure. In the quarterfinals, teams performed a three-minute choreography piece. The semi-finals consisted of two 45-second rounds performed to live dhol beats by a DJ, while the final featured three 45-second rounds to impromptu DJ music.
The inaugural edition showcased some of the finest bhangra talent from across the country, judged by an iconic trio — Ruhee Dosani, Kunwar Saheb and Sahaj Singh — all renowned for their influence in the art form. Ruhee Dosani said, “The environment was extremely hyped, all the teams were fantastic.”
