A day after looting incidents were reported in Nawanshahr in three different locations, the Nawanshahr police claimed to have arrested one accused while two are still absconding.

In all cases that were reported from Sadar Banga, Aur and Balachaur, the victims had said about three bike-borne miscreants, who looted them of their valuables.

The police have arrested 24-year-old Amardeep Singh, alias Ajju, who is from Garhshankar, Hoshiarpur, while Manpreet Singh (25) from Garhshankar and Dalwinder Singh, alias Daman (24), from Manguwal village in Sadar Banga are at large. All of them are unemployed.

However, the trio is said to be involved in the loot incidents that happened in Sadar Banda and Aur, while those involved in the Balachaur loot case are yet to be identified.

The police have recovered one gold chain, a bracelet, wallet, Aadhaar Card, etc, from Amardeep Singh's possession. Already, five FIRs of robbery have been filed against the accused.

Several cases of house trespassing, snatching, hurting and robbery have also been registered against Manpreet Singh, who is yet to be arrested while no previous cases were registered against Dalwinder Singh who is on the run.

In the first incident, Chandan Ram, a resident of Aur, filed a complaint with the police stating that he was traveling on his bike when three bike-borne assailants waylaid him. The rider struck him, causing him to fall. The trio then beat him up and stole Rs 1,000, his identity card and passport. An FIR was filed under Sections 309(6) and 111 of the BNS against the unidentified attackers.

In a second case from Sadar Banga, Vishal Aggarwal, a resident of Jaipur, reported that he and his friends were travelling towards the Golden Temple, Amritsar. After parking their car to take a nap, three men on a bike attacked them with sharp-edged weapons, smashing the car’s window. They stole a gold chain, bracelet, cash, voter cards and passports.
