The house belongs to Dharaminder Singh, who is undergoing promotion training in Phillaur. At the time of the theft, only his wife Santosh Kaur was residing at home. On the morning of May 27, she left around 8 AM to attend a condolence ceremony at a relative’s house.

Upon returning in the evening, she found the main door’s lock broken and the contents of the cupboards scattered across the rooms. Realising a robbery had taken place and being alone at the time, she immediately called for help from neighbours.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the thieves stole ₹40,000, around two tolas of gold and valuable liquor. The Begowal police recovered an iron rod from the scene, believed to have been used to break the locks.

The police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. No arrests had been made yet.
