Jalandhar, August 3
Deputy Commissioner
Dr Himanshu Aggarwal on Friday reviewed the work of the Revenue Department and instructed officials to speed up the digitisation of jamabandis.
During a meeting with officials of the Revenue Department at the District Administrative Complex here, the DC said the digitisation work of jamabandis should be expedited. He also directed officials to make jamabandis live as soon as possible.
Dr Aggarwal asked Sub-Divisional Magistrates to ensure regular inspections of their respective tehsils and sub-tehsils. He instructed tehsildars and naib tehsildars to conduct inspections at the patwari and kanungo level as per the prescribed calendar and send regular reports. He directed tehsildars and naib tehsildars to prioritise the completion of the recovery of outstanding revenue, while stating that any laxity in the work would not be tolerated.
Reviewing the pendency of mutation and land demarcation cases, the DC said, “Continuous hearings should be held for such cases and those cases where parties concerned agree should be resolved as soon as possible.”
During the meeting, the DC also reviewed the progress of various schemes such as the Svamitva Scheme, the utilisation of funds issued from PLRS for new construction/renovation in administrative complexes, the revenue court management system, pending cases in the revenue court, and the resolution of complaints received via WhatsApp from residents and NRIs.
Earlier, the DC held extensive discussions with the Sub-Divisional Magistrates, tehsildars, and naib tehsildars regarding the revision of collector rates. He said the draft regarding the revision of the collector rates was available in tehsil, SDM offices, and the HRC branch. He said people could visit these offices to view the draft for raising any objections. He said if there were any objections to the draft, these could be submitted at the office concerned.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Dr Amit Mahajan, SDM Jalandhar-1 Jai Inder Singh, SDM Jalandhar-2 Balbir Raj Singh, District Revenue Officer Navdeep Singh Bhogal and other officials of the Revenue Department were present at the meeting.
