Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain on Thursday launched a new digital initiative, ‘Charhda Sooraj’, aimed at providing a platform to individuals and organisations making a positive impact in society.

The campaign, spearheaded by the District Administration in collaboration with the Red Cross Society, Hoshiarpur, seeks to celebrate unsung heroes who are silently transforming their communities.

Addressing a press conference at the District Administrative Complex, Jain said, “This is not just a campaign but a movement to spotlight real-life change makers whose stories often go unheard.” She emphasised that the platform will recognise contributions in fields such as education, environment, animal welfare, health, social justice and community development.

People can share their work by sending photos, videos, or stories via WhatsApp at 7380090643 or on the Facebook page ‘Charhda Sooraj’. Entries will be showcased on social media to inspire wider participation.

Highlighting the inclusive nature of the campaign, Jain said anyone can participate—from students and senior citizens to NGOs and local community groups. “Even a small effort can lead to big change.

This is a call to all to come forward, share their work, and motivate others,” she added.

The initiative also aims to particularly engage and empower youth, encouraging them to tackle civic and environmental challenges, and build strong, responsible leadership at the grassroots.
