Deputy Commissioner Ankurjeet Singh on Friday directed Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to closely monitor and act against illegal mining activities within their respective jurisdictions.

During a meeting of the District Level Monitoring Committee, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the importance of heightened surveillance. He instructed the SDMs to form committees at the Sub Division level to ensure regular visits to mining-prone areas. “This initiative will enhance monitoring and curb illegal mining practices,” he said.

The Deputy Commissioner also called on the SDMs to submit detailed reports of their visits and actions taken in cases of illegal mining across the district.

Addressing the availability of government lands for mining, Singh directed the concerned officials to begin the process of issuing ‘no objection certificates’ so that mining operations could commence on these designated areas.

Officials from the mining department updated the Deputy Commissioner, confirming that several teams were already conducting regular checks at known illegal mining hotspots.
