Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal today directed the NHAI and the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation to conduct a joint survey to address chronic monsoon waterlogging along the national highway.
Chairing a review meeting here at the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner accompanied by Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur and Municipal Commissioner Sandeep Rishi, said heavy rainfall leads to massive water accumulation, disrupting vehicular movement, and emphasized the need for a robust drainage mechanism.
He directed the departments to formulate a comprehensive plan to ensure efficient rainwater disposal before the onset of the monsoon.The DC also urged the NHAI to identify and rectify black or blind spots on the highway ahead of the fog season, pointing out that these locations often become hotspots for accidents.
NHAI Project Director SK Mishra said the meeting that 12 such spots have already been identified and will be fixed in the coming days.
Stressing the need for coordinated efforts, Aggarwal called on all stakeholders to work jointly to ensure the national highway remains safe, smooth, and convenient for commuters.
