DC reviews arrangements for Republic Day function

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Thursday reviewed the arrangements for the Republic Day function to be held at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium here on January 26.

Divulging details, the DC said the Republic Day celebrations were one of the most important national events in the country and the district administration would celebrate it with full patriotic fervour and gaiety.

He said the administration was duty-bound to observe the mega event in an unsurpassed manner. Sharma said the district had a distinction of holding the best functions to mark Republic Day in the state every year and this would be upheld this year also.

The DC added that concerted efforts had been made by the administration in this regard. He said the Police Department had prepared a detailed route and a parking plan to avoid any kind of inconvenience to the public during the function.

Sharma said the police would make foolproof security arrangements.

Meanwhile, the DC said teams of doctors and para-medical staff would be present and MC officials would ensure cleanliness around the venue of the function.

He said senior officers of the district administration had been assigned duties for the mega event. Sharma said full-dress rehearsal for the Republic Day function would be held on Friday.

ADC Jasbir Singh, DEO Harinder Pal Singh, Lt. Col. (Retd) Manmohan Singh, Deputy DEO Gurpreet Kaur and others were also present on the occasion.
