DC reviews final preparations for Republic Day celebrations

Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal today finalised arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium. Chairing a high-level meeting with officials from various departments, Dr Aggarwal emphasised the significance of the event.

During the meeting, he reviewed critical arrangements, including traffic diversion plan, drinking water availability, parking facilities, mobile toilets, and transport for participants. He instructed PSPCL officials to guarantee uninterrupted power supply at the stadium throughout the event.

He also directed the health department to deploy medical teams comprising doctors and paramedics to handle any emergency. He also stressed the need for strict adherence to VVIP protocols to ensure the event proceeds smoothly. He took stock of display of achievements through tableaux. He also announced that the best tableau will be rewarded with cash prize at the end of the event.

The DC directed the Police department to strengthen security arrangements in the city, especially around the venue. He asked to deploy proper police personnel at the stadium for smooth conduct of event. He asked the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation to decorate key intersections and chowks in the city with a patriotic theme to mark the occasion. He announced that the full dress rehearsal would take place on January 24.

Dr Aggarwal urged officials to carry out their responsibilities diligently, ensuring the success of the district-level Republic Day celebrations. The event is expected to showcase the spirit of unity and patriotism, reflecting the importance of this historic day.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, Assistant Commissioner Sunil Fogat, Additional Deputy Commissioner Amit Mahajan, ADC (Rural Development) Budhi Raj Singh, SDM Balbir Raj Singh, SDM Randeep Singh Heer, DRO Navdeep Singh and officials from various departments were also present.
