DC reviews paddy procurement arrangements
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain today visited the Dana Mandi, Hoshiarpur, to review the arrangements for the ongoing paddy procurement season. She interacted with farmers and commission agents, assuring them that all necessary facilities have been put in place for a smooth procurement process. Hoshiarpur SDM Gursimranjeet Kaur accompanied her during the visit.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to farmers to bring paddy with the prescribed moisture content to the mandis so that the procurement process could be carried out without any hurdles. She said that ensuring farmers’ convenience remains the top priority of the administration. Adequate arrangements for toilets, sanitation, drinking water, shade, tarpaulins, and gunny bags have already been made. She also assured that every grain brought by farmers will be procured and payments will be released on time.
Earlier in the day, DC Jain chaired a key meeting with rice sheller owners at the District Administrative Complex. Officers from procurement agencies and the Mandi Board were also present. Sheller owners highlighted their concerns, particularly regarding the need to restrict moisture content in the procured crop to within 17 per cent.
The Deputy Commissioner assured millers that the administration would extend full cooperation in this regard. She emphasised that farmers would be sensitized to bring only adequately dried paddy to the mandis. While assuring immediate redressal of local issues, she said state-level demands would be taken up with the government.
DC Jain directed officials to ensure that all procurement-related arrangements are completed on time. She also urged commission agents to motivate farmers to bring crop with the prescribed moisture level, so that the procurement season is conducted smoothly and efficiently.
